Simple Simon being very informative in his match report…..

European champions Chelsea, who currently sit third in the table, play Brazilian side Palmeiras in the Club World Cup Final on Saturday.

That is a trophy Manchester City have never competed for because they have not won the Champions League in order to qualify.

How is this comment from Simon Stone's match report on the BBC website in any way necessary / relevant?

" 'We are not the best team in the world. The best team in the world is Chelsea, the best team is Palmeiras. We are not the best and I don't care.'

I was about to post the same thing. Fucking ridiculous. You'ld never see that kind of sentence in a match report for any other club.

You know exactly why its relevant if you read the article. According to the article Peps comments were ‘we are not the best team in the world, that is Chelsea, that is Palmeiras. But we don't care.

If those comments are accurate Stone is only providing context to the reader as for the casual observer its unlikely people would understand the reference to Palmeiras.

He also wrote this about the side in the report:

City's fluidity was so far removed from the old-school English tactics of the past and when another defender, Aymeric Laporte, controlled the ball on his chest and rolled a shot narrowly wide of the far post, it felt like a throwback to 'Total Football' and the Netherlands' 1970s golden era under coach Rinus Michels.

Often there is a reason to complain at some of the coverage but not on this occasion. Not sure why people want to find perceived slights about the club instead of focusing on the high praise the side received in this article. Probably more positive than anything wrote in the post match thread.

BBC doing yet another United related documentary and yet again it's yet another about Rooney this time about drinking.
And yet again he Is going going to be on Breakfast in a trailer pushing it.
WTF would they do without United?

It's an Amazon documentary, not a BBC one.

I'm not expecting Nugent to do anything else but simper at him, but the BBC aren't going to turn down an early interview with him though - there are quite a lot of people who will be interested, not just MU fans.

Think you overlooked his need to explain in print to football supporters..If his report had been published in Angling Times or the Guardian he might have needed the explanation. I agree the rest of the article was very flattering. Its almost as though he has been told to behave but managed to get a couple of barbs in that he felt he could justify to the mandarins if questions were asked.

The old dears at pensioner's whist drives all over the country will be interested but not as much as Rooney's interested in them.
