I see Sky Sports have gone Full Tonto on the Carabao Cup Final. It is now the greatest tournament in the world given that City aren't in the Final for once.

All morning wall to wall coverage from the Wembley dugouts, ref profiles, archive footage of great Redness from the past, a bit of Blue Kings Road glory, they've got the lot. On a par with the old-style build up for the FA Cup final in the 1970s. All that's missing is Carabao It's a Knock Out and Carabao Universally Challenged with Kaveh and Darmesh.

Guess nobody is surprised by their arselicking of the dipper cunts really .

Again, this means nothing. What tweet etc etc?

It was presumably the "whataboutery" (PB's description, not mine) tweet re Chelsea that @Prestwich_Blue opened up with, before engaging seriously (with a lot of good points that weren't answered by the way).

But that isn't the point. The point is: what is the (presumably derogatory) nickname and who initiated it?

What nickname?!?!? These twitter threads make no sense to me.

@Prestwich_Blue deleted his tweet. It was along the lines of asking if the Chelsea Athletic reporter has asked their fans what they think of their owners in a similar way to Sam Lee did about us the other day. Might be best for @Prestwich_Blue to explain himself (should he want to). I thought he had a point (although maybe it wasn't the right time to make it). That said if the shoe was on the other foot and it was City, you can be sure as shit the usual suspects would be all over it and slamming us for it, day of invasion or not

To be fair so does posting on a City forum (and pretty much anything else in the world), but here we are

But that's not exactly related. It's fine to keep doing what you usually do while there's a war going on a long way away, sure, but what they're getting angry about is specifically linked to the invasion, and a very trivial part of it.

"And now over to Wembley l. As the two teams neutrals want to fight for the title are preparing to play each other in a major cup final..."

Does that include the eagerly awaited all-star coach smashing marathon!

He used the term 'militant cranks' to describe some City fans, presumably like me, who are vocal on social media. He wanted to hear from City fans with more nuanced views, completely failing to see the irony that the media rarely have nuanced views about City and our owner.

Haha! Just read the latest twitter thread and it’s panning out exactly as I said it would in my last post.
Blues just giving him more material by going after him (apart from the ones sucking up to him, not a surprise to see some of the names) and round and round it goes.
Just fuck him off and don’t engage with him. He looks like he was still on the tit until his teenage years. You don’t win against sad sacks like Lee. It’ll be a badge of honour to him all this.

I really like Sam Lee. I was dubious about him being a United fan at the beginning but he definitely won me round with his content. I think this is either the United fan coming through or he’s being pushed by The Athletic to take this new stance. It pretty much isolates him from City fans and almost makes his position as City corespondent untenable.

Maybe he’s angling for a different job.
(Fishing pun intended)
Or you just didn't realise he was a twat from the off.

SSN reporting live from Wembley, did they do that over the last 4 years?
I was watching that and thought, what the fuck!
Not only were they reporting ”LIVE” from Wembley this morning, but will be doing so throughout the day, and all the way through to the final.
Nice to see this Cup getting the recognition it deserves!

Should be renamed the " Oil Money Cup " then surely ?

I think you are one of the few on here who regularly give articulate reasoned mature responses, often with details to support your views. Hardly a militant crank.
