You have to laugh at the Mail's Damascene conversion to socialist principles as soon as it's not the establishment clubs winning everything. Let's look at Holt's rationale for imposing an independent regulator on football;

"After everything that has happened in the past 18 months — the car crash of Project Big Picture, the backlash against the aborted European Super League, the shame of the approval of the Saudi Arabia bid for Newcastle United and the defrocking of Roman Abramovich at Chelsea — no one trusts them to run football any more"

What exactly has happened ? "Project Big Picture" ? In case, like Oliver Holt, you've forgotten;

"The plan, put together by Liverpool and Manchester United, would see teams in the EFL - ie the leagues below the Premier League - given £250m ($325m) right now, to share between themselves, plus 25% of revenue from future TV deals that the Premier League secures.
Those clubs, led by the EFL's chair Rick Parry, have been demanding money from the Premier League for some time, because they have been struggling financially in the absence of crowds due to Covid-19" -Ah..Liverpool and Manchester United.

European Super League ? In case, like Oliver Holt, you've forgotten;

"Barcelona president Joan Laporta has slammed Manchester United and Liverpool by accusing the Premier League duo of being the 'real founders' of the failed European Super League.

All three of the clubs were intended to be founding members of the failed ESL when it was initially announced back in April with United co-owner Joel Glazer one of the figures who publicly endorsed the controversial plans"

"The shame of the approval of the Saudi Arabia bid for Newcastle United" ? In case, like Oliver Holt, you have forgotten who was behind the appointment of the Premier League's chief decision maker;

"Liverpool and Manchester United have left their Premier League rivals furious after reportedly having had special access to weigh up the candidates to be the new chief executive of the Premier League.

The two English giants met with candidates for the position, which had initially been taken up by Susanna Dinnage before the Animal Planet president pulled out of the appointment"

Which just leaves Abramovic. Maybe Holt criticised him and called him out before Putin's invasion of Ukraine but, if so, I can't find it. And, even so, who, at the proposed regulator's office will decide which wars are acceptable to football and which aren't. Who at the Regulator's will decide how close a person needs to be to another person to be deemed sufficiently responsible for that other person's actions ? One thing's certain. It can't and won't be someone independent.

In short, Oliver Holt isn't stupid enough not to know all that. The guy is, simply, a ****.
I would indeed laugh if many posters on also had a Damascene conversion to the New Socialist Daily Mail. ;)

You just watch the narrative and agenda explode the closer it get’s to playing the Scousers twice.

Yet another one. Guess who's picture accompanies the article? No prizes as the answer is too obvious.

OLIVER HOLT: Greedy owners have insulted us for too long and we can't trust them any more... money-driven Premier League executives don't get it so it is time for an independent regulator

Surely that cannot apply to us, our exec’s aren’t greedy don’t take money out.

What exactly does the knob jockey Holt want ? He moans when our owner puts money in now he moans when owners take money out.

so the survey goes from 10k-11k to 100k in the blink of eye

Sportswashing the numbers at its finest. Ironic really.

the 10-11k responses mentioned on Twitter going to 100k responses on the website

the blocking of certain fans on Twitter, the loaded questions, the bitter biased bile.

… 2 Tottenham’s and no Crystal palace - what other blindingly obvious data manipulation is required to be found?

Nick Harris's article is the utter piece of shit we knew it would be when he published the questions. They were manifestly designed to produce the answers he wanted.

Anyway, let's remember that we know he reads this forum. And let's also bear in mind that he had one of his occasional pathetic tantrums the last time it was mentioned on here. So let's give ourselves a little reminder here:

THE HIGH COURT DECLINED TO VIEW NICK HARRIS AS AN EXPERT WITNESS. In other words, Nick, the judge had the same view of your level of expertise that we do on here, in common with anyone else who has an IQ of above 80 - it's absolutely fucking non-existent.

I think nick should be congratulated for some excellent journalism. Bound to win loads of awards

Work with data every day and anybody with an IQ in double figures can’t take this survey seriously. So much wrong with it I can’t believe any sensible editor would want to publish it unless of course they have an agenda. Anyway I want to do a survey on here that only City fans can do and I want the press to support it. What do you mean no chance. Precedent has been set hasn’t it. Nick, drop me a PM and let’s see if we can do business, my rates are very competitive.

'Most damaging, FFP etc..'

Bottom are Wolves and Leicester, both guilty of breaking FFP rules.

So rule breaking is acceptable to most fans, being a legitimate threat to the established elite is not.

'Most damaging" sorry guys I have to agree with that. With City being so well run and our team being the best over the last ten years, we have damaged other teams. LONG MAY IT CONTINUE !!

PS i couldn't give a flying fuck what the dippers, rag, gooners, spurs or any other American owned fans think. How I hate America clubs.

I for one was astonished to learn that City’s owners are regarded as the most damaging to the game. I mean it’s not as if the survey was designed to appeal to fans of the clubs most adversely affected by City’s emergence as English football’s most dominant force, and who just happen to also have the largest fanbases, was it? Oh wait, hang on a mo…..

Doesn’t the fact that Newcastles owners got voted second for having done the most damage to the game despite only being around for 3 months really undermine this?

Even if you believe that pumping lots of money into the game or being owned by people of ill repute is destroying the game, it is absolutely impossible to say Newcastle’s owners have done more in a few weeks than Abramovich in decades.
