Feckin Stone on bbc suggesting (or stating 'some suggest') that if the 800m 'loaded debt' had been spent on the pitch they could have better matched City - eh? they spent more than us in the period anyway, didn't they?

But, but, but, we are better supported and have 'istory .

Even made main news on Planet Rock radio staion this morning, with the reader saying that many fans are disillusioned with a lack of investment by the Glazers during their 17 years there .... feck me, anyone know just how much the rags have had to spend in that period?
The bbc news referred to that as the 'perceived lack of investment''

Yes they have, but some can’t get their heads around it’s not so much how much you spend it’s spending it wisely and on the correct players for that specific role or formation, the rags have scattergun spent the majority of times out of desperation to stay relevant ..

I don't know why people on here will happily laugh at how Old Trafford is falling apart, roof is leaking, their academy is 10 years behind ours, Ronaldo said the gym equipment hadn't changed since he left in 2003....but then also won't accept the Glazers didn't invest well in the club.

Buying players is about 5% of what a club does, the Glazers' haven't touched the other 95%.

Even their commercial department + growth has stagnated in the last 5 years while all the other big clubs in the country have grown 30-50%

They’ve invested heavily on the pitch tbf, which is what fans care about most, but let the stadium and training ground go to shit. Unless they get a very wealthy benefactor then I can’t see any new owners spending considerably more on players than the Glazers have.

Investing in the team and investing "well" are two different things though, not to mention investing in a decent manager and letting him do his job.

That's fair enough, apart from the 5%. When we are criticised, by people who know what they are taking about, for "unlimited" spending, they really mean on infrastructure: stadium, arena, surrounding area, academy and the like. It just gets picked up and repeated by morons who think it's about buying players.

It is true that we have an owner willing to invest more of his own moneys in these areas, which aren't as restricted financially, than other clubs. Tough. We have better owners. Not richer, just better.

I agree they probably won't spend more on transfers, but I suspect the cost and corner cutting seriously affects how those players perform and which players they buy.

If they’re not investing in the gym, how much are they investing in their sports scientists, nutritionists and medical team?

Are Darren Fletcher and Benni McCarthy world class coaches or are they just happy to have the job?

Spend the Glazer dividends on that kind of stuff and it’ll make a big difference.
