I've not read the article but City have lost two forwards with 12(?) seasons PL experience and replaced them with Alfie's lad and Alvarez. Both new signings are upgrades but a settling in period may give the dippers an advantage. On the other hand one is the son of a former PL player and the other has been scoring frequently in a tough, physical league, so if they hit the ground running as Sergio did then the advantage stated may be imaginary. Just like most stuff written by Martin.
On the other hand, scousers have signed a striker who in comparison may make Bony look like a Ballon d'Or material

The comments on this are revealing...

Someone report these 'journalists' to Reach plc, this stuff wouldn't be published by kids in a school magazine.

The echo obviously have a different meaning of the word "hilarious"!!! Here's me thinking it means something seriously funny

Since when has 'hilarious' had a change of definition? And why fill a space with this 'article'?

OK, so we're obsessed and jealous of Man Citeh
, but why this as the headline on Monday morning?
Unusual self-awareness for a Scouser ...

I never fully understood or grasped the reason why mates who are Newton Heath Nomads' fans, despised Liverpool fans ?
Liverpool were never in our minds as I had only met a rare LFC fan in Manchester.
The Media seemed to be more even-handed, before Sky altered the course of English football.
The attached article is an example of why Liverpool F.C. are despised by fans of every other club, especially Everton & MUFC.
I wonder if the Liverpool Echo is rapidly losing people who buy the paper ?
Every other Newspaper is losing sales - is it also true of the LFC mouthpiece ?
Never heard of the bloke, but like many of his contemporaries these days, he's about as funny as toothache.

They're genuinely off their rocker

If only Theo Squires had been around in the early 70s when one of my History profs introduced the concept of 'The Butterfly Effect/Chaos Theory' to one of his seminars.

'Scouse-splaining' like this would've helped us all grasp the concept much more readily (especially those of us who were made to sit at the back and do raffia..)

Seriously, surely these articles on 'Why x is good for Liverpool' are getting to be a p*ss-take by now? There must be a group of them in the cellars at the 'Liverpool Echo' chained to the wall/radiators, being forced to come up with this kind of garbage, or else?!

It’s their cult hive collective mentality that keeps having these daft articles published. God knows what they were like when Roy Hodgson was in charge or Hicks and Gillette were nearly bankrupting the club. They have to see themselves as the ‘best in the world’ at everything and don’t see any negative in whatever happens at their club.

Be that players like Mane using them as a stepping stone, how their owners don’t compete in the transfer market with City even though they have similar revenues or how some of their poor supporters shelled out money for a champions league final ticket only to not get in the ground or find someone in their seat. They won’t look at their club in any negative light, they are different to us where we have spent a lifetime moaning about City under the stewardship of Swales, Lee, Wardle, Thaksin and Mansour.

It's probably been said before on here, from much wiser heads than mine, but looking at the comments in the media (in articles and below the line comments) its amazing how players are "under-rated" after they leave City.

Zinchenko is underrated and a true professional
Steling is underrated (and I've seen calls as one of the greatest PL players ever) since he joined Chelsea
Jesus is underrated and a great team player.

This wasn't said prior to the transfer window opening.

I wonder what's changed?!

The irony is that when Hicks & Gillette were in charge the Kopites had banners galore telling them to fuck off and hand it over to the Arabs.
Dirty oil money quotes would never have existed had that happened.
