I went to live in London from Manchester in the late eighties. By the mid nineties all of the rags I knew were cocknies.

They wouldn't know where Salford was if their lives depended on it.

They thought I was mad when I insisted there was only one club from Manchester and that we played at Maine Road.
Or Trafford

I think, over time, the decline of clubs like Bury is inevitable. Their raison d'etre has gone. Back in the day, the only live footy on TV was the FA Cup Final. Most people worked until 12-00 on Saturday, so there wasn't time to go into Manchester even if you wanted to. Your live football fix was therefore your local team - Bury, Rochdale, Oldham etc. Now you can pretty much watch any match you like on TV/Computer. Young kids in particular like success so they tend to choose 'big' teams so they can bathe in reflected glory. Nothing new in that, it's just easier to watch the matches now.

The people who still watch the likes of Rochdale are the true, grass-roots football fans and don't care about being part of something 'bigger'. However, my guess is their numbers will decline over time. We get so much exposure to top-quality football these days that paying to watch Bert Scroggins boot the ball into Row Z is less attractive than it used to be.
That's why I think we should make it as easy as possible to let fans watch teams play - every match, from every league (down to the conference at least) should be available to watch or stream, officially, live.

It’s already started in the Daily United.

The Rag Sami Mokbel kicking it off.

And big words from Tent Peg already.

A domestic double? When did that start for the FA Cup and Carabao Cup, this season. Pathetic!

Our Domestid Treble/Quad if you count the CS never gets a mention tho

Surely winning the Treble and beating your oldest and local (in the truest sense of the word) rivals in the domestic cup final, trumps winning it against a generic, transient rival.

Ours will be better if we can pull it off.

But there’s a long way to go yet. Lots of things to go wrong. However, it’s still on.

A treble that includes beating arsenal to a title, United to an FA cup and Bayern, real and one of Milan or inter for a cl is a who's who of **** clubs.
