Hahaha Erling has rattled the entire nation
Seems like a back handed complement from Shearer to think any striker would score a ton of goals playing for us. It really isn't that simple considering that people and pundits were questioning if Haaland can play in this side at all.

The English football media will do anything to find a negative slant. We have the greatest league in the world, watched by billions across the globe, and pundits and reporters choose to revel in the poison. It's not just City either. I think a lot of the criticism of other clubs has been totally overblown. They were slaughtering Arsenal and Arteta until recently, the same with Chelsea. Even some of the criticism of Klopp has been way over the top, especially using comments from a drunken coke-head scumbag like Hamann. What the fuck is the matter with these people? I don't want propaganda and don't have any problem with balanced critcism but we don't get that in this country. We just get tribalism and hate.

It's impossible to know there to start with that article. The writer is so incompetent he has not even made a cursory fact check on Google. He has obviously never visited Maine Road or the Etihad and doesn't even have the most basic knowledge of Manchester City. He has just hoovered up all the cliches and packed them into one fabricated feature. Many years ago the Northern Echo was a respected regional newspaper nowadays it has become a laughing stock.

Unfortunately “good” journalism these days is solely measured in how many internet clicks an an article gets.

I see what the guy is trying to do here. He’s got a problem He’s writing almost exclusively for a Newcastle based readership, so he can’t push the “dirty oil money” “sports washing” angle. So he’s desperately trying to find an angle that oil money is ok but there’s somehow some big difference between Newcastle’s oil money and City’s. It doesn’t stand up to any sort of scrutiny but if enough geordies give him a like, he’ll keep his job.

It's odd as Shearer has been absolutely full of praise for him in The Athletic, and went on record before the season started that he would score a record breaking amount of goals.

Clearly Kane would bag a lot, but this suggest Aguero was a good, but not great striker. Clearly that's rubbish as he's at least on a par with Kane as a goal scorer.
