And, of course, there's no possibility of the club calling in the editor of the MUEN to ask why the local paper is clearly biased against the team that actually plays in the city. Ah well. As long as the club apparently do nothing about the campaign being waged against us by a significant section of the media, it'll continue. We're weak when dealing with the media.

Going from 1st to 1st is staying the same.

Eventually people are going to have to accept we're Lewis Hamilton or Schumacher. Winning again, being excellent for the 7 year in a row isn't news.

Will we struggle after 15 players return from the world cup is interesting. Its interesting for City fans too, that's why we have a few threads with hundreds of comments about it on the forum.
I’m concerned whether we hit top form on return, irrespective of the WC angle. I felt that before the break we were not quite hitting our straps and we have allowed Arsenal to open up a gap. I’m not one of those who are assuming Arsenal will go off later as they have in the past. We must, therefore, hit top form soon to catch them up or three in a row will not happen.

I could believe it is real. It's the kind of shite that was often common currency years before the Good Sheikh arrived and one reason why I binned the MUEN a long time ago. For a team that never plays a home game in Manchester the MUEN have honed a bias towards MANUre that the national media have emulated.
From a business perspective I don’t understand why they do it. Anti City bias reduces Blue readership, without gaining any red readers. The positive coverage of united ensures red readership irrespective of what they write about us. The managing editor/Editor in chief should have a word.

@tolmie's hairdoo do you know if Sarah Lester is a blue? She’s a local and has been at the MEN for 25 years.

Why would the club calling the editor change anything?
The only reaction would be is that Arab owners threaten the freedom of the British press.
The headline doesn't break laws, will appeal to United fans and others, it would do more damage than ignoring it.
Doesn't worry many City fans, certainly won't be thinking about MUEN when I am celebrating another League title at the Etihad.

Well; if you're happy for the club to sit on their hands re the coverage we get, so be it. I don't mind criticism of the club, when we deserve it. Are we perfect? No, no club is. But that MEN page is just toxic. There's no pretence of impartiality there.

It is terrible I agree. I am just saying what the club stance is.
If a journo or media outlet go too far the club do respond. Custis was banned from the ground, he immediately started sounding off how the club were denying free speech. When Dillon overstepped the line, he was threatened by the club with action and proffered an apology, little has been seen of him since. The club will get retribution where it is needed, a big show for the fans who are unhappy is not a priority for the club.

In the modern era perception is, unfortunately, increasingly important. If we want to get the media onside, just ignoring that sort of nonsense the MEN came up with is self defeating. If the national media look at that they may think that, if the local paper don't get behind the club, why should we? Normally, I wouldn't be bothered about the media, and I generally discount claims of an agenda. But you'd expect better from the local media outlets.
