Meeters and Greeters....Lord have mercy.........

In regards to what PB and others have said; yes it does no harm, but what does it actually achieve? Maybe it does attract a new generation, but it didn't work like that in the past, did it? We should attract the next generation not because we have a smiley person greeting you as you enter the ground, but because they enjoy the football, the experience and have an emotional attachment.
I'm only 15, and I don't remember getting hooked on football because of the half time games, or the flashing lights and American experience; it was because I loved the singing, the off you seat edge (and this was when we where rubbish, so I must've been a really bored kid ;) ) the stereotypical away day per se. To be totally honest if City are trying to attract the new generation, well they've done a really bad job already. How many teenagers do you realistically see going to games all the time, hardly any. Within my group of mates, most being city fans, there's only me and another who regularly go to home and away games.
That in itself is a problem regarding the atmosphere. As many have mentioned we have an ageing support. I've found myself becoming alienated with City and I'm only young, if this is the way football is going...

Good Post.

I know of many lads similarly aged to yourself who too have felt alienated with matchgoing as they will attend (with their parents) but most of their school mates don't go to matches but consider themselves big city supporters.

This highlights a key problem in the whole "matchday experience" and that is pricing.
Ticketing should be much cheaper in this country, when you compare football with countries economically similar to us such as Germany, we are expensive and unaffordable for those of us with not much disposable incomes (usually younger people)

Great memories I have as a kid going along to watch the football with my mates. we could afford to get in on pocket money and yet this was only just under 20yrs ago now (damn I am getting old hahaha)

Low Pricing.
Safe Standing.

if these two things were brought in my response would be: Yes I did enjoy my match today actually

I think a large problem as to why they charge the prices they do, is that there is always someone that buys them. Whereas in Germany, if they charge perceived bad prices, they just don't buy them. They'll boycott the game. If we did that over here, we'd just end up with a half empty away section.
Another thing regarding Safe Standing. Tbh, there is no reason as to why we can't have it, was it a significant or even minor cause of Hillsborough? No, it wasn't. But can you imagine the headlines if any high ranking politician campaigned for the no standing act thing to be overturned, "Politician disrespects 96 dead" etc etc. I don't think there's any chance of having Standing back soon; unless we the fans get organised and actually do something a la German fans.

Interesting divergence of opinion on this. My first impression was, and remains, that it is highly civilised of the club to post friendly faces around the ground to welcome fans both our own newcomers and away fans. It's the very unnecessaryness (?) of doing this that makes it something special, a detail that may well impress those of us who weren't brought up on skipping around the dog turds in the pink passage.
Brilliant! You've come up with the answer.

How about the owners recreating the streets around Maine Road on Joe Mercer Way. Stick up some replica terraced houses, cobble some alleyways, spread some dog-shit and employ kids on the North Car Park to "mind yer car". Stick up some floodlights as well. We could have the football equivalent of the Granada Studios Tour.

They'd have to be massive FLOODLIGHTS FOR OUR MASSIVE CLUB

At a recent game we were in City Square, watching the very entertaining Mike mc Clean, when a "greeter" came up and said Hello and asked if we were going to the game?

Why else would we be stood about 50 feet from the stadium?

A week or so later they had a ball and asking people to kick it through the MCFC letters - I was very tempted to just hoof the ball in the canal ala Peter Kay Have it!

I like this idea

Which dickhead green as fuck wet wipe thought city fans needed a lovely greeting to the ground. What we need are kids running extortion rackets on the car parks and turning city square into a massive fernhurst style beer tent.

Only us oldies will know what the fuck you're going on about

Has anybody got a number I can ring because I feel that Bluemoon should have a presence in this "meet and greet" department. I just know I am the right man for the job !

As you all walk up I will just say "I hope Clichy isn't playing" !

Yeah....or "what the fuck are you staring at mate?"

or better still:

"Got a light mate?" ( to hear the accent)

My first game a maine rd was amazing a car was on fire and the whole experience seemed edgy and exciting. It got me hooked, no way i will let my boy become some soft shit blue who thinks going to the match involves clowns and tshirt cannons. Get a beer tent citeh and remember we are mancs no southern whoppers.
