Do you really need it spelling out?

Etihad pay a slightly inflated price for being sponsor and Roma reduce price for Benatia's transfer accordingly.
City = Etihad?

Come off it Marv, might not be a direct related party but in reality we know it is an organisation we have reasonable control over.

I am pretty knowledgeable on this topic ... let's say my location should give you a hint.

City and Etihad have a really good relationship and Etihad are very much keen on keeping it that way as Man City is huge for them especially on a PR profile level for a growing airline competing to be the best in the world.

If Etihad can pull off a sponsorship deal with Roma, it will have an affect on deals such as this. Maybe not a direct impact but will give back channel chats and discussion as both Roma and City will have a mutual beneficiary who will want to see both of their sponsors doing well and winning.

No we'd just name a 23 man squad.

Agreed, but we would be paying and have paid for 2 players that could not be named in that squad.

Oh yeah, that makes signing Caballero make absolutely no sense.

It's a good sign that Roma named a price, even if it's a joke price. It means they will negotiate, though maybe the fee will still be too high for City. We'll see.

Wouldn't count on it. Corrupt robbing cowardly bastards on the whole. Once they smell interest from a few clubs the price will go up and up. We should offer to loan him for a year - that would be their starting position.

Maybe City should move on to plan C player, its clear that Roma do not sell or if they sell it will be massively inflated price.
