I'm really enjoying both.

Melbourne City is like supporting MCFC pre-Mansour, a few highs, plenty of lows, and plenty of WTF moments. I've watched nearly all of their games since the takeover so I'm really getting a feel for the club. And it's very similar to us, right down to the arrogant rivals who don't quite realise yet that the next few years might be a bit difficult for them. And the feeling of impending doom from their supporters that we used to (sometimes still) have.

NYC has been great as well, but very early days there. And there hasn't really been the dip in form or run of losses yet, it's all been pretty positive.

Watched a bit of Marinos too, which has been hard work at times but they got a good win last weekend.

Playing havoc with my sleep patterns so far, when daylight savings starts/ends I'm going to have no idea.

As for standards I reckon NYC > Melbourne > Marinos from what I've seen so far.
Thanks for replying.I'm enjoying both too,not for quality but shear speed of play,ie everything played like its last minute of a cup tie.and the way no one moans at the ref and gets on with it .I prefer the Aussie game.
But quality wise NY style is an attempt to play the English style.probably at a championship standard.
Currently spending time over on nys forum to pass time, that really is an eye opener!
Just don't tell them you're a city fan!
I stated that early doors ,since then anything you post is classed as pointless or trolling .
The amount of personal abuse I have recd is staggering.
Last night someone claimed to be more of a player than lampard after he had attended one match.I asked jokingly were some of the other players that hadn't appeared yet spectators then in that case ? And as I had seen nycfc in Manchester was I an international player then ?
It was called the dumbest post the forum had ever seen.

I'd put it down to most of them being Red Scouse, and Rag sympathisers already. Why they'd then support an MCFC ran team is beyond me, it must be something in the coffee...

The Lampard thing doesn't look too good, but there were people threatening to quit the team because of it, before they'd even kicked a ball in anger. But my best experience on that site was one guy giving up his season ticket because the home shirt didn't have orange trim!

I try to watch both too but often end of fast forwarding through a lot as the standard is dire.

Early days though and hopefully both will improve a lot as time goes on.

I'm enjoying seeing the evolution take place. How often can you see the birth of a club. Or the reinvention of a new club.

The arrogance and self importance of both sets of fans though has been a huge shock. I'm hoping they mellow as the clubs grows. When we were shit it was generally fun. They seem to have much higher than normal expectations. They want CFG to hand everything on a platter to them but they resent them for it at the same time. I think their first couple of seasons will be an education for all.

Sorry Tony I'd have to disagree slightly. Can't comment on New York supporters but in Melbourne I don't really think we have higher than normal expectations. We are coming from having zero expectations each season to now having some hope of doing something. Since takeover things have changed dramatically off field but on field the performances have not matched that improvement. The biggest issue has been that pretty much this season was about rebuilding the squad. In capped league it's virtually impossible to change in one season, and because our team was so terribly stacked with spuds it was always going to difficult.

What raises some expectations is what has happened in Manchester, but what gets lost it wasn't over 1 season things changed. I guess the excitement of being taken over by the city group could have clouded some peoples judgment, but common sense and rational thought is rarely combined with football discussion.

Anyway this Saturdays game is being billed as the biggest in the clubs history. Not too glorious I suppose when it's a battle between 6 and 7 in a 10 team league. It is what it is. Roar are basically a second team with key players out on international duty and injury. We have a couple out but not the extent of Brisbane. They are backing up from a smashing against the Wanderers 3 days prior, and have had a busy load over the past 3 weeks. We are coming off a massive away win to a genuine title candidate and are undefeated at home in our last 7 or 8 games.

Everything is pointing to a comfortable win, and because of this I genuinely think we will lose. 0:1 conceding in the 81st minute. Cannot forget the game against Wellington when they had 9 players out for the NZ national team and had their youth team playing away and we still managed to lose.

Hope to be wrong.

I'd agree with you Heartman, but take a look at the NYC forums! That's an eye opener!

Hang on to our lead and finals here we come.
I think the win is a must. But still not a done thing for finals IMO.

Brisbane have a much better draw than City over the next month, and I can see them making ground.
