Melbourne City FC Thread

Weird game. Just didnt do enough, basically outplayed for 70 minutes and lucky to lose by only 1.

Just watched the Melbourne women's team win the grand final 4-1. They went through the season undefeated. They had Jennifer Beattie from the City team on loan, and isn't she a great player. Scored the first goal and was strong and authoritative in defence. The other player that stood out like a beacon was Kim Little. She is a quality midfielder and I believe captains the Scottish national team. It would be hard to imagine a better midfield player than her, so I hope she stays on the City books and that she can be coaxed to Manchester.

All up a great result. The City family keeps on rolling along!

It was a great result, for sure. I would point out, though, that Kim Little is only on loan to Melbourne City from Seattle Reign during their off-season, and I'm pretty sure they want her back, so she won't be staying "on the City books". In fairness, the league she currently plays in is higher-quality than that of either Australia or England, so I couldn't begrudge her choosing to remain with them.

Great result Sunday. Was a decent crowd 4K. Was expecting some sour grapes in the press but from what I've read most are congratulatory and are now demanding the other clubs lift their game. I actually think the woman's game in Australia could become the dominant code. At the moment I reckon Netball and Hockey probably dominate but soccer could really take off and who knows get on par with the U.S.

This transfer window really has fizzled out and today Erik Paartalu was released to a Korean club. So if anything we have actually weakened over January.

Got the Jets Sunday arvo away and should win and win well followed by a home derby the following Saturday night. Need as many point as possible to stay in touch.
