Re: Melbourne Heart FC Thread
I seem to recall that the due diligence on City didn't complete until late October. Didn't stop them purchasing the club on 1st Sept.
I don't understand the logic behind them arranging the manager's sacking in advance. The fans hated Aloisi for his poor results. If they'd come in and sacked him they'd have been hailed as heroes. As it is, the Aussie press does not consider JVS' work turning the Heart's fortunes around to be connected to the City takeover, and nor do their fans. They all attribute it to the work of the previous management. I don't see the logic behind doing it that way.
Come to think of it, Soriano just announced (complete with an interview with him, Marwood, JVS and the Australian Chairman) that JVS has signed a new 3-year contract. Does it sound like something Soriano would do, to renegotiate a manager's contract after less than 3 months? Doesn't it seem like the result of a change in strategy instead?
The arguments just don't quite add up to me.

Even for a small outfit you need at least 6 weeks to do due diligence.Plaything of the gods said:I'm not privy to the goings on behind the scenes but to sack Aloisi on 28 December, appoint van't Schip on 30 December, and then sell the club by 23 January is pretty swift going. I'm just surprised that City would be able to do all the necessary financial, legal, etc due diligence work from scratch within those 24 days.
