Memories of Ceefax/Teletext

I remember being so excited about tv’s with ‘fast text’ after years of keying in the 3 numbers for a page and watching it slowly count around to that number and then it would jump past that number and start round again. Drove me insane even as a young kid.

One of the biggest memories for me was going to the sports headlines and at the top was the headline of Howard Kendall leaving us and going back to Everton. It had been a really promising and positive time after the years before, and to see he’d binned us off was crushing. I literally dropped to my knees in the living room - seems crazy now!

I'm sure I tried recoding Teletext on the VHS thingy but it recorded the program on the station rather than Teletext.

Could be wrong tho, many moons ago.
Ha you Luddite. I can’t even work my oven now. I went to buy an electronic toothbrush recently and they all seem be linked to Bluetooth technology. All I want to do is brush my teeth. Roll on dentures and steredent.

I won a competition on Club Call. Probably cost ( my employer ) about £500 to enter and the prize was two tickets in the main stand to a big game. Plus a book, presented to me on the pitch by David White before the game.

The big game in question was Ipswich in the Full Members Cup. Unusual, in that it was probably the only game in that competition ever played on a Saturday. I think it was FA Cup 4th round day and we’d both been knocked out in the 3rd round. We lost that game as well.
