Merson writes.....

We've scored more goals that Spurs, have more points than Spurs and have conceded less goals than Spurs, and yet they are media darlings who are 'great to watch'

I'd suggest that anyone who 'hates the way we play' doesn't watch us very often.

Also, 'umpteen' is difficult to quantify but 4 goalless draws out of 26 doesn't seem over the top to me.

I'm not even going to mention the drug induced notion that a defeat is better than a draw - ooops I just did

I'd suggest that for the umpteenth time, Merson is talking out of his arse.

This really pisses me off aswell. It's a complete hypocrisy that Arry Capone can convince his mates to write that they are somehow an exciting team to watch when the evidence rules against them.

Punting the ball to the wings and hoping for them to run a bit isn't great football, nor is it great tactics. I actually do care about England and I hope that this overrated melty faced tosser doesn't get the job.

well he actualy realised the importance of that match last april didnt he. it was mancini 0 arry 1.

he is a football fan and hates the way we play. most people do. even some city fans do.

nothing wrong with what he has said for once.
How many City games have you been too this season?

Not many I'd guess

Actually, the people who do know what they are talking about in football (i.e. not people like Merson or other pundits who try to simplify the game down to a box of overused cliches with no bearing in reality) are mainly saying that Mancini should play on the break, because, and I know this is hard for some to admit, we're going to the home of one of the greatest teams in the world who have just gone 29 games unbeaten and whose major strength FOR THE PAST TWENTY YEARS has been their ability to intercept a football and punish sloppy or meaningless passes.

People just seem to actually forget who United are most of of the time. Do yourself a favour and replace the words "Manchester United" with "Bayern Munich" or "Inter Milan" and then tell me why we should go there all guns blazing.

why dont you replace the words 'wolves, villa, brum, newcastle' with manchester city.

we need to get out of this small time thinking. we are the most talked about club in the world, we have a wealth of fucking fantastic players here.

i can understand teams like boton, brum etc trying to contain utd, i fully understand it. but we can play them at the same game. we look a million times better when we put the sword to teams instead of sitting back and playing the counter.

Do you get dissappointed when you watch boxing and it'snot like Rocky, with both boxers just twatting the shit out of each other also?

Were you dissappointed with our 1-0 victory against Chelsea? I expect to see the same tactics employed tomorrow.

Oh deary me.

If Tevez had his shooting boots on that night, we would have been 2-0 up in ten minutes.

They played on the break, Bellamy didn't track a run back and their wide player crossed for the big lad to head it in.

Typical arry tactics then as stated.

(ps - as much as it will upset you, City seem to be doing better than Spuds this season. so for 2010/11 its Mancini 1 - arry and you 0

Mate, just ignore the fucking numpties. They are out in full force this week. Playing down expectations again. You and I and the rest of football which in this particular case does include Merson, know, that setting up for a point is fucking ridiculous. The truth is, the majority on here know it too, they just hide behind a certain perception of what their own allegiance entails.

I agree (to an extent) with your sentiment, but playing on the break doesn't suit us, we have no pace whatsoever. Our game is primarily about keeping possession with patient, and intricate build-up play. How can we translate that into effective counter-attacking football?

And with Johnson out we're left with few alternatives should we need to switch it up and be a little more direct, I'm clinging onto the hope that Balotelli could make a late appearance but it's unlikely.

I'd take a point tomorrow, but we mustn't show them too much respect. If we go there with the belief we can win, and we play with conviction and confidence there's a very good chance we would.

I am not denying that. But a football game is a football game, you can obliterate someone and lose or draw (see Sunderland and Brum games) or not play great and win well (4-2 with Chelsea last season). Things can happen and the game changes.

It is not all down to the manager's team talk or tactics.

As I say, Tevez could have had 2 in the 1st 10 minutes and the game would have played out differently would it not?

On the same hand the Spuds could be saying if it wasn't for Hart earlier this season they'd be ahead of us now. I don't like looking at past too much. What's happened has happened. I just hope our players and Bobby have learnt and will approach the game in the right way.

theres an oxymoron if if ever i heard one....kinda like 'microsoft works' or 'government organisation'
