Maradona was nowhere near as prolific as Messi at club level. That is your bread and butter and what you should be primarily judged on. He is also a complete nut job. The OP needs to give their head a wobble

Messi, Maradona was a sublime player but he wasted much of his talent and certainly did not have the consistency Messi has. I don't buy Messi not being just as brilliant in other leagues... It's difficult separating such quality players but for me, Messi has eclipsed everyone .....!

Indeed. They guy scored against dozens of football clubs in CL and yet people are doubting if he would be able to do it in other leagues. To be honest, it's mostly Premier League fans who do it, there is still a thinking amongst section of Premier League fans that it is kinda different to other leagues and you have to be special to do it there. Like Phil Jones never really happened in PL.

Can't separate them as players (seen loads more of Messi due to age and nowadays availability) - both outstanding individuals.
