Manchester City Linked With Stunning £103m Bid For Barcelona Star Lionel Messi

by Rob Kearsey July 21st, 2013

Messi could leave Barcelona at some point in the next few years if the club don’t win any trophies.

Manchester City could be ready to make a stunning £103 million bid for Barcelona attacker Lionel Messi, with several other European clubs considering a bid at some point in the future, Le10 sport reports.

Paris St Germain, AS Monaco and Anzhi Makhachkala could all join City in trying to sign the attacker, who is regarded as one of the best players of all time following his exploits at Barcelona.

Messi has been accused of tax evasion in Spain and could consider a move abroad if he continues to be charged by the Spanish authorities.

City would be one of the few clubs in the world that could afford to pay the enormous transfer fee for Messi and also the players wages.

However, big spending French clubs PSG and Monaco would also join City in any race to sign Messi.

The attacker may not come on the market this summer but should Barcelona not win any trophies for a few seasons, the Argentine attacker may choose to play for another club, if Barcelona are happy with him leaving.

PSG’s president Nassar Al-Khelaifi recently threatened Barcelona with a move for Messi, saying he would activate the players buy-out if Barca continue to track Thiago Silva.

If and it's a big if,Messi decided to leave imo it would be the premier league, the french league has punched above it's weight with the silva, ibra, cavani and falcao signings, but i suppose if the likes of psg threw silly money at barca and messi then anythings possible...

I am fascinated to see how this Neymar/Messi situation works out, at the moment Messi is the poster boy for not just Barcelona but world football, Neymar however is the most marketable sportsman in the world, what if Barcelona decide to brand him more than Messi?

This is why you cannot have two supreme players and egos in a team, you are asking for fallouts in my opinion.

I still think Messi will be Barca for life but a players mind can change depending on the situation, plus this tax situation and Spanish financial crisis surely is going affect Messi big time.

We will see, but I would love our Sergio to have a word next season if Messi's Barcelona position is unsure.

Can you imagine Kun and Messi up front?? I think Mansour would be well up for that.

I respect PSG for completely revoultionizing French football, but I see the league as a whole currently not big enough to house Messi in my opinion.

He's already turned down PSG. And I strongly suspect Barca shopped him to the tax people to keep him in Spain for a while.

If he turned down PSG it suggests barca wanted to do business. If barca shopped him to keep him there it suggests they don't want to do business.
