Messi trial.

I don't think they'd give a shit tbh, but how does that make your point any more relevant?

They don't but as of now, UEFA does. No matter how little they care about it, UEFA will sanction them with all sorts of stuff if they fall foul again. It makes my point relevant in the sense Messi could be linked to all sorts of clubs under the big blue heaven but there are only a certain handful of them who can realistically afford his release clause and wages without failing FFP. And as I said before, I'm only mentioning Adidas because all this while only Adidas sponsored clubs have been linked with his transfer. And I only think so because Adidas have been specifically mentioned in every rumor saying they will pay in part for his transfer.
I might come across as a proper dimwitted knobhead and a 24 karat bellend to almost everyone on here but I'm being realistic. According to this: http://www.forbes.com/pictures/giig45jli/4-lionel-messi/ he has $50 million per year wage bill; that comes to about £32 million. And according to this: http://en.espn.co.uk/football/sport/story/308203.html he a release clause of €250 million; that comes to about £182 million. Unlike Tranny, he's on the right side of 30, just won the treble and at his highest peak ever so its highly unlikely he'll take a wage cut not to mention his 7 contract renegotiations in his time at Barcelona. So we're potentially looking at an outlay of £68 million per year assuming a 5 year contract. Do you think we will be allowed to spend that kind of money on ONE player with FFP around?
Compare this with our highest purchase and earner, Kun. Bought for £38 million with a current wage bill of $18 million (£11.5 million) according to this: http://www.forbes.com/profile/sergio-aguero/ Over 5 years, that's an outlay of about £20 million per year. How much more than that can we go with FFP around? Unless of course, FFP is chucked out and we can go back to spending money for fun! This is why, I thought that the scum, with their finances and possibly a leg up from Adidas now that they sponsor them (and who knows, maybe they've already been given the leg up with their eye watering deal!), will be the only probable ones to land him.
You might again say like someone else did that I've put 2 and 2 together and come to 10 000 000 but I'm only being realistic based on the information that is available in public domain. That said, I will be more than glad to be proven a total idiot if that means we can land Messi without getting into any problems of FFP or any other sort.

Please go to UEFAs website, find the FFP regs and find me the part that says Adidas and only Adidas, no other kit maker, are allowed to contribute money towards the transfer of a player. I've read them a thousand times and I've never seen it.

It doesn't say so anywhere but Adidas are Messi's sponsors and that's why they're talked about having a part to play in his transfer. From whatever little I am capable of understanding, it could be because a big maximum of Barcelona's jerseys sell with Messi's name on their back which generates a big chunk of money, money which goes to Nike and money which Adidas may be interested in earning for themselves.

According to this: http://www.sportyghost.com/top-10-highest-selling-club-soccer-jerseys/ Barcelona sold over a million shirts in 2014. And according to this: http://www.sportyghost.com/top-10-best-sold-soccer-jersey-names/ Messi's is the 2nd most selling jersey in the world so you can imagine the kind of money his jersey alone makes for Nike!

Would you say its safe to assume that half of Barcelona's shirts sold would bear Messi's name? If yes then at £60 a pop, Messi's jersey alone makes £30 million a year for Nike. Wouldn't that be the kind of money Adidas may be interested in making for themselves? I think so!

So why wouldn't Nike be interested you might ask? Investing in Messi's transfer wouldn't result in any additional income for Nike but it would do so for Adidas. Wouldn't Nike be interested in preserving that income? They certainly would be but they don't seem to be capable of pulling it off and why? 1. Because they dont have the access to Messi that Adidas have; that alone would give Adidas an upper hand in personal negotiations with him. Nike only sells shirts with his name owing to the fact that they sponsor his club. Nike doesn't have any personal access to him at all! 2. Nike doesn't sponsor any club that is even remotely capable of standing up to FFP with regards to Messi's transfer. 3. They would have to invest a LOT of money compared to Adidas, an amount which might just make Nike think twice about it.

The way I see it, seeing as they're Tranny's sponsors, the way they would preserve their income is to go and negotiate with Real Madrid for a shirt deal; they would get their hands on a large income of Adidas by way of earning the sales of Tranny's shirt. EDIT: Now that I think of it, Nike could well play a part in Tranny going to PSG given that it sponsors both of them. IF what I'm thinking is right then expect their kit deal with PSG to be renegotiated immediately before or after Tranny lands there.

I'll say it again, this is my opinion and not gospel truth and I'm capable of being wrong! And if my 2 choices are 1. Being proven right and 2. Being proven wrong and City signing Messi, I would take 2 all day! But do I see it happening? Unfortunately, no.

So let's get this straight, Nike won't contribute towards a transfer to hugely boost an existing shirt deal, but Adidas will? Justify that.

I did try to justify it in my previous post. But here, i'll quote it again: "So why wouldn't Nike be interested you might ask? Right now it's a zero sum game for both Adidas and Nike; the former sponsors Messi and Real Madid and the latter sponsors Tranny and Barcelona. If Adidas helped one of their clubs in taking Messi, I think it will be easier for Nike to take Tranny to one of their clubs namely Manchester City or PSG. No prize for guessing where Tranny would rather go and what we would think about Tranny coming to us.
