Messi

It sounds plausible and not beyond the realms of fantasy. If he was to be made available it would be only us, PSG and Chelsea who could afford to sign him. It will be very interesting in what Barcelona does this summer, and the way they are behaving towards City we have unsettled them.

Nice article.

If there is one of very few players who still have massive amounts of loyalty to a club it is Leo Messi, I can't see him ever leaving, and to be honest why would he want to leave?

I disagree regarding Neymar, Neymar is your Ronaldo esq winger striker and can play on either side of Messi. What Messi needs to understand, and Barcelona for that matter, is that not everything can consistently go through Leo anymore, he needs to learn to share the goals around, and the team need to learn not to always pass it to Messi and leave everything to him.

The only way this Barcelona team can improve is by getting back that work ethic of pressing high up the field every time they lose the ball, increase intensity, sort their defense out and buy a center back, and buy a striker or two to take the dependency away from Messi.

Barcelona score so many goals, but when playing against the top teams in Europe, and with them knowing that taking Messi out of the game pretty much kills 75% of Barcelona's attack, it becomes a problem. They need more goal scoring options to help occupy the other opposition defenders etc.. that will free Messi up even more as well.

David Villa was one of the worlds best strikers and yet was played second fiddle to Messi, same with Ibra. Neymar is good but not a patch on the two mentioned.

As for the bolded bit, many have tried and many have failed. Messi has totted up as many goals as Aguero and Tevez together and enough to cover Dzeko too!

Barca don't need a plan B striker, they need a defence. This Barca on the wane stuff is myth, they hammered the league and finished in last 4 of CL. Not bad considering their coach has cancer treatment, their captain out injured and Messi having a knock or two in pivotal phases of the season. Tito overplayed his team, he needs to use the squad to it's fullest. All they need is a CB and a better GK, never been that keen on Valdes think Puyol needs to be replaced, and not with a midfielder either, Alves needs competition too, a RB is paramount. I'd also keep Villa and use him as the left sided paklyer in 4-3-3 and also as main striker when resting Messi. Defoleu is the natural replacement upfront as is Tello on the left side.

To conclude, teams can try and mark Messi, makes no odds, he will mug em off anyway, if they do mark him then Iniesta and Pedro will do the damage. Neymar is a direct replacement to Messi and as Billy says, it's one or the other imho. Neymar is a 'trick' player who makes mazey dribbles, that's exactly the opposite of Barca philisophy, it's pass and move with intricate passes with total possession. All play goes with the basis of feeding the best of all time that's Messi. Neymar complicates matters rather than acts as a solution.

Good read Billy, I'm 99% sure Messi will never leave Barca, but genuinely believe (as per your comments) that if he ever did, then we would be favourites, he's a big fan of Oasis too which can't do us any harm either.

He has also been having English lessons on and off for about four years now. I understand why people think it's impossible for him to leave Barca ... I've just got a feeling that it won't be down to Barca but up to the player. Messi wields so much power. If he were to say "i want to try the premier league", and there was a club willing to pay his value, it'd be difficult for Barca to stand in his way after everything he's done for that club already.

I'm hearing you there mate, here's hoping :-)
