Metrolink for WBA game

Over10k people exiting the MEN tonight at 10:30 and the service to Rochdale had already ended so thirty quid in a cab and a wasted return ticket. 10:30! Joke. Utter shambles and white elephant of a public funded service.

I use Metrolink most days, and it's rubbish, and their last tram times are a after the reliability issues, a joke when compared with transport systems around the world.

If it wasn't disproportionately expensive people wouldn't mind so much.

OK, I've used it every home game from Altrincham. Once had a problem (Everton night game) when a car drove onto the track at Holt Town and had to walk from Piccadilly, guess I was lucky the other day as watched the U18 game so was there before the problem. Can guarantee I'm home one hour after final whistle. Mate drives and arrived home 40 mins after me due to Mancunian Way. When it works, it's fine.

Funnily enough I overheard someone at a recent home game saying that with the metrolink Manchester is trying to be London and failing miserably, and I agreed 100%.
It's the difference in funding. Have you been on the tube since the Olympics? It's unrecognisable from the shit hole I used to travel on when I lived in London in the 90s. More cash is always the answer to such infrastructure issues.

Arrived at Altrincham station at 6.30 tonight. Plenty of time I thought for a journey of 35 minutes or so.

Nope.

We get to Piccadilly, and the tram is taken out of service, so off we get to wait for the next one, which we couldn't squeeze into, and the next one which went past because it was terminating and nobody could get on, but anyway.

Another kick off missed because of those useless trams.

Maybe I'm just unlucky, but so far my experience of using Metrolink to get to the games has been less than positive, to say the least.

Come on, United Utilities, and get the Mancunian Way open again.

Cars = freedom, and bollocks to public transport.

I think I must have been on the same tram as you. Didn't they say someone had smashed a window so the tram couldn't continue? You can't really blame them for that to be fair. I prefer the experience of driving to the match but I've rarely had an issue with the tram and I can be in my seat in the south stand less than an hour from leaving my living room. I just about made kick-off by running from Piccadilly station on Wednesday and was pissed off but couldn't really blame Metrolink for the act of vandalism.

No, you can't blame Metrolink for that inconvenience, but it all adds up and I'll not be travelling with them next season.

Vanadalism, cars on the track, points failure, or the wrong kind of sunshine, I'm fed up with missing games and kick offs whatever the reason is.

I've also had issues returning home after games as well.

As far as I'm concerned, given my experiences of the system since August, the service is just not good enough.

You may not have had any issues using the tram, which is fair enough, but I have had my fill and will gladly swap Metrolink for my car, which, as a form of transport over the decades I have been watching City, has only ever resulted in one missed game, against Bayern Munich when the Mancunian Way was closed due to a fuel spill and I returned home to watch the game on TV because the gridlock was so bad I knew I wouldn't get to the ground for hours.

I have never missed a kick off.

Using Metrolink has blown that record away in less than one season.
