Metrolink to / from Etihad

After full-time last night, tapped in at the etihad campus booths and was waiting for stewards to open the barrier down to the platform. Whilst waiting, one of the small side gates was opened to let a couple of elderly/disabled folk into the queue - fair enough. What was not fair game was the 70-80 people who took advantage of this gate briefly being open to force their way into the queue from the public walkway, but more worryingly, proceed to ram into the people already in the queue which caused a crush up against the metal barriers. Myself and a couple of others challenged some of the queue jumpers who'd caused this, however, they just looked at us with blank faces as if we'd spoken Japanese. Odd behaviour to say the least.

It’s incomparable to the situation at United. They have four different lines and probably about a dozen stops, all within easy walking distance.

Beat me to it.

It’s destination Piccadilly or Victoria for me so I just walk it. Not that I’m attending much at present!

Clayton Hall Tram Stop Closure / Non Closure

Clearly a lot of differing views.

Personally I'm travelling to Ashton after the match and go down to the Etihad Campus stop to queue up and get on the tram. So - the platforms get full , there is a scrum to get on which is dangerous for younger, older or more infirm travellers and the the tram is filled to the point where its just possible to shut the doors. At this point the Next Tram Timing sign is turned off - so everybody just packs on!!

And off we go. No problems at Velopark - Its shut and the tram doesn't stop> Onward to Clayton Hall. The Doors of a rammed full tram open & EVEN MORE TRY TO FORCE their way on. And I do mean FORCE - in terms of there being no space & it being an increased danger to those already on , especially to those mentioned above. And if Anybody Dares to Speak OUT - then its immediate hostility and aggression!!

I've mentioned this on here a couple of times before & to be honest - Last week was Bliss. Clayton Hall was closed after the match and actually manned by Stewards. The tram was still rammed full from the Etihad but there were no increased problems & significantly NO HOSTILITY or INTIMIDATION.

Last night after the Madrid game it was worse than ever. The tram was fuller from the start and the events at Clayton Hall were multiplied.

I've read the other points of view & urge City, Metrolink and even Andy Burnham to put the bits together and find a solution. Its dangerous now and a genuine Health & Safety/Public Order Risk. Add Concert crowds & you make a service that isn't fit for purpose possibly catastrophic!

can any 1 tell me why 2 of us paid 3-30, 1 person paid 11-50 and 1 paid 7-00 all returned trams and we all got on the same tram, do they just charge what they want

I assume you did the tap in / out ?
I have been collared a number of times where the machine has not recognised the card and then bingo the following day you get charged for the journey on the line in full.
If you contact Metrolink they will reimburse if you give them your credit card info.
I have sacked it off now and just purchase a paper ticket.

Sounds strange especially the 11.50 bit, not sure there's a fare of that price. On the metro link website, under the "contactless" section, you can see all the journeys you've made over the past 12 months by entering the long number of the card you used.

An all zones peak time unlimited travel day pass is only £7.10. So I’ve no idea what they are charging £11 for.

I used to work with someone, in fact quite a few who were very impatient with computers and would be clicking their mouse over and over again.

Known as 'click happy bastards'....I'm wondering if the guy who paid £11 actually paid for more than one person/family ticket from being in a rush and jabbing the screen constantly.

That £11-50 was 7-50 going to ground and £4 coming back, mine was £3 -30 for both there and bacl

Is that the City tram season ticket, or something else?
Yes, its a Matchday Season Ticket. It costs £74 for the season and covers travel throughout the Metrolink network on every matchday.

One season, we forgot to tick the box on the season ticket renewal form and had to queue up and buy tickets to return after the match. It was a real pain.
