Metrolink to / from Etihad

25 minutes, do you have one leg (:
25 mins is about right. The walk back to Town, especially when with mates, after the game is more of a stroll back for most people. I’ve done it in 25 mins many times, sometimes taken about 40 mins if we’ve stopped at the offy and got a few bottles of beer in for the walk back.

I’ve done it in 20 mins on my own many times but there are also some people who could be older or fat/unfit so 25 mins is easily the best time to tell someone it takes who’s never done it before.

It’s like when you go on holiday and you’re told the hotel is a five minute walk from the beach when it’s more like 15 minutes. It might be five minutes for Massimo Stano, but most people like to stroll rather than power walk.

It depends where you sit. If you sit in 111 or 211, for example, given the large walk you have to go out of your way because of the cordon surrounding the away fans, you've been walking ten minutes and are still outside the ground.

I consider myself a fast walker and always have been. However, given all the faffing, the fact that you have to negotiate walking behind slow walking people, and what not, if you make it back to Piccadilly from my spec in less than 40 minutes then you've got jet propelled boots.

I could make it from the Maine Road Chippy to the bridge under Piccadilly Station in 25 minutes on a non-match day, but on a match day I'm playing with an entirely different rule book.
Fair point. I'm at the other end so i have a head start

And I leave 15 mins before the end...... don't really

Whats the best way to go to get to the tram stop in Piccadilly station? Walked for the first time last time, and ended up in the station car park, climbing three sets of stairs in the multi story car park and through a door marked "staff only".

Up the escalator from Fairfield St entrance, then follow signs to trams.

My entrance is K, just the wrong side of the barrier. It adds about 5-10 minutes to my walk just walking the long way around the ground to get to Ashton New Rd which I regard as the start of my walk back.

It is shorter to do the rotation inside the stadium in the concourses than it is to do it outside the ground but it still annoys me every time. I used to sneak through the away fan barrier and walk out through the away fan car park but only 50% of the time. If you fail, it adds a lot to the walk home as you end up walking in the opposite direction to town just to get out of Fortress Etihad. IMO City should get rid of the away fan barrier for any club that brings less than 2k or at least be a bit more pragmatic.

Walk down the canal instead of going all the way around the ground. Although granted, not ideal in the dark.
But watch out for Jack The Dipper

Yes that's correct. I'm a pretty fast walker and it's 20-25 minutes.

Walk down Ashton new Road until you get to the tram lines. Follow the tram lines. Mitchell Street then Pollard Street. When you get to the end of the road, turn left then immediately right on to Adair St. and walk on until you pass I under the bridge. Turn right on to Fairfield Street and the Station is on the right. It's the quickest way but don't walk it alone unless you're looking for a lady of leisure!

Perfect, thank you. And for the warning!
