Metrolink to / from Etihad

This 15 to 20 mins walk back to Piccadilly i find it hard to believe.
I think my record is 30 minutes and that would be to Ancoats Travelodge.
As some have said an uncomfortable walk due to sweat and add on dodgy knees.
Bus the way to go.Very civilised and no real overcrowding.
Ideal for the South Stand regulars.

It's a 30 minute walk that in areas isn't well sign posted or well lit. Especially along the canal. If they want people to walk they need to improve these kind of things to be more appealing.

3 bridges are too low on the Canal and it dog legs north so isn't the qucikest route. Agree it needs lighting, and gets very grotty closer to the stadium.

After the Chelsea game I made it to Victoria in 30mins, Piccadilly quite easily done in 20. I dont really get why able bodied people would want to wait for the tram but its none of my business I guess, feel really sorry for those less mobile who cant walk and have to put up with this shit service through no fault of there own

Despite everyone's complaints about transport in Manchester, it's a million times better than most provincial towns
Where I live in Stafford, there are no buses after 6pm on weekdays, and no service at all on Sundays.
Do you have PL football teams, a county cricket club, a velodrome, a swimming centre, a big indoor arena (soon to be 2), an athletics stadium, a speedway track etc etc? Metrolink should cater better for one off events, unfortunately it doesn’t.

Where I am in the South Stand it is difficult to get to the buses because they block the route to accommodate away fans. So it is Metrolink or walk the canal tow path.

Can I respectfully suggest that some people will be able to walk to/from town at a decent pace and make it in 20 mins or so, others will find it harder, particularly the uphill bit near the stadium and take 30 mins or so, some longer, and some will be unable to walk that distance no matter how long they have. And what's more, you wont be able to tell which group people should be in just by looking at them. I look (ahem!) fairly young and capable, but I have a heart condition that makes it difficult for me to do that walk in under 45 mins at best and with a fair recovery time.

So, can we all ditch the "I find it amazing that folk feel the need to get the tram when they can walk" posts....
They really dont add to the conversation.

Thanks it's not just me that thinks half of Bluemoon must be called Coe or Ovett, or Aouita. Walking from the East Stand it's almost 2 miles to Picc Station via the walking route. That's 40 mins for me if I could keep up a brisk walking pace for that long.

Anyone who can do that walk in 15 mins, head to this site: https://www.teamgb.com/

Hello,

Away fan here travelling up by car tomorrow.

Where's the best place to park? And what time to arrive?

Many thanks

I've started parking at a car park behind Picadilly station called Sheffield Street Car park, it's £5 for up to 8 hours, but it's an easy get away if you get back quickly enough to the car park. It's probably a mile (ish) walk straight along side the tramway (pretty much).

There are free spots nearer, but they're more difficult to get away from.
