Metrolink to / from Etihad

Haven't bothered getting on it for a few years now. I hope Metrolink like losing out on money as they're doing a great job of that with their shoddy service.

I was meant to be be staying at Altrincham Travelodge on Tuesday.
Thanks to this thread cancelled and got a cheaper deal in Ancoats.

You won't regret it. I have to use the Alty line. I walk into Piccadilly and then watch everyone else being taken home.

Caught it back to town for only the second ever time yesterday

we even left it an hour to die down and had a drink in city square

its been absolutely shite both times

It doesn't help if empty trams coming to the ground get stuck on Merrill St with all the taxis trying to get to the ground (and Ashton New Road closed near the stadium so traffic stacks back onto the tracks).

No problems whatsoever post match today. No queue, straight onto the platform, got a seat on the tram & after a quick change at Cornbrook was back in Chorlton at 22:50.

True to form last night on the Alty line - going to the game not too bad - after the game not good for some.
A single tram again from Piccadilly that was rammed - when it got to Cornbrook not everyone managed to get on, some blues left on the platform, And then when it got to Trafford Bar the driver refused to open the doors as the tram was fully loaded. Much pissed off blues left on the platform.
GET DOUBLE TRAMS ON THE ALTY LINE YOU MUPPETS, IT`S NOT ROCKET SCIENCE.

I think everyone drove, much busier parking than normal even with no shows.

Living near bury it should be a no brainer to get the tram, but it takes at least double the time and similar cost to driving. Must be thousands who could use the trams if they were run properly. Single trams after the games? What a joke!

as i dont live in manchester, could you not send emails to the people who run the show, if plenty do it, it might give them a kick up the arse and do something about it

Hmmm 48000 people leaving a stadium. One station. Now I wonder why there are queues. Instead of waiting for your Royal Quadruple Tram with your velvet cushioned seat, here's an idea, If youre able bodied, walk into town. By the time you do the trams are less full and you'll have done yourself some good.
As I said earlier in the thread, that is the biggest problem: we are served by only one line. united fans can access the entire Metrolink network from four stations within a short walk of their ground, plus a railway station

Not always the case. I walked back to Piccadilly in the rain against Wolves, took me 4 trams to get back to Altrincham from there. ALL PACKED!! And I was lucky at Trafford bar waiting for the last leg, I only just got on one (Single Tram).

Never again......

That’s the issue mate. I walk to Piccadilly to catch the tram to Alty. Last night I could see one at about 22:10 which wasn’t enough time to get back for. Couldn’t see any others due to arrive so grabbed a cab knowing how poor the Alty service from town can be after an evening game.

Well - you must be a fast walker. I always walk to St Peter's Square and have never not got a seat easily.

What baffles me is why Manchester Council closed so many roads to parking on matchdays. We used to park close to the ground, it wasn’t outside houses etc and yet it became one of these no park zones. The location of the ground and the infrastructure serving it is absolutely dreadful.

I was genuinely amazed at how quickly the Met queue went down at the ground last night and got a Tram to Trafford Bar and was thinking that, at last, someone in authority had finally taken some action.....

....then it all went to pot. Stood for 40 mins while 3 single units arrived, refused to open the doors, announced another tram was 6 mins behind (it wasn't, next one was 15 minutes) before finally squeezing on one as someone got off. Can only assume some people were waiting over an hour.

I'd be curiousd to know just how much Covid was transmitted on the Trams last night, single units on a Matchday is an absolute joke and seemed to be the same on the Airport line and East Dids.

Pathetic
