We were lucky. My brother is a season ticket holder at OT which is 3.8 miles from my mum's where we leave our car. A couple of games ago, he couldn't even get to their game. Trams were off so he tried the bus and couldn't get on one because they were all full and didn't stop. In the end, he turned round and missed the game

Does your brother leave his car at your mum's? If so, why didn't he just drive to the swamp when the trams were off? I've parked a reasonable distance from the swamp for all but two or three derbies over the last 40+ years.

He does but by the time he'd walked to the tram station, waited for a tram (which were supposed to be running) and then waited for a bus it was too late. Plus, don't forget, he was going to watch united which is a pretty shit prospect at the best of times.

I tend not to bother with trams for evening matches now as they’re a cluster fuck. Strolled out last night, cab flagged near the Holt Town met stop, £30 to Alty. Back home for 22:20.

If I get a tram then it’s looking more like 23:00/23:30.

Danny Wilson and Role de Vries were speaking to Supporters Clubs on Tuesday night and said there were ongoing talks with the Council to try and improve transport but it didn’t sound like there were going to be improvements. Reasons or excuses were made about narrow transport lanes, affected by the canal and bridges, that restricted scope for improvements. City were going to build multi-storey car parks to cater for increased demand for the Coop Arena and our games.

The new North Stand was a case of “when and not if”. Bars, food outlets, City square type entertainment etc would be integrated between the North Stand and the Coop Arena.

And I live on the far side of town near Beetham Tower. Get used to walking. That is what the planners have in mind for you. That and buses. E-bikes and scooters are cool but unless mass hire becomes popular probably not practical. They work very well for students and deliveroo

Marvin you live in town, most don't. Walking is not an option other than from the ground to Piccadilly. It is getting from Piccadilly station/Gardens that is the nightmare.
Driving is a no no, the manky way is just that. Manky. It is also a car park. Buses are shite, infrequent and rarely on time BUT I understand why. The idiots that allowed the tram to expand as it did cut into their profits. I believe the plan was the tram was meant to replace the buses yeh well that worked well.
Night matches are a real pain for most and especially if you use the Altrincham line.

After the Lisbon game Wednesday, miraculously caught a tram straight away as there were no queues.
Then they announced that due to a crash near media city that the only trams going to Eccles were in fact going to Trafford Centre.
The driver then announced to the passengers that it would be better to get off at the Imperial War Museum, walk across bridge and get tram at media city to Eccles.
In the end the tram just carried on its usual way and never went to Trafford.
On another note, as I have a metro link / Etihad pass for match days, will I get a refund for the trams been un-useable during April……nah I didn’t think so either

How can any 'modern' system need to close down for 25 days for maintanance? It's been running under-capacity for almost 2 years due to Covid?

Didn't they just close the Eccles line down for 9 days in Feb 22 to replace tracks.

And almost a month in July / August 2021 to replace concrete.

That line is obvously not fit for purpose if in 2 years it's needed to be closed for 60+ days.

When we got to the tram stop the hectors had closed the fences and gates and were telling people they had to walk to Piccadilly because of a crash on the line.
Just a bit annoying, then, to be passed by a double tram just as we walked past New Islington…

Strangely for the United and Sporting matches, I got a tram to and from the match without any queue or any delay at all. Straight through the barriers five minutes after the match and on to a waiting tram.

Probably because the demand for trams on Sunday was low - there weren’t any running to Alty!

Was that the same one I was on that was stuck for half an hour?
My mate is a driver and he says they have started running direct services on the quiet from some of the outer stations - depending on driver availability- but for some reason don’t promote them, even the boards said Piccadilly rather than Etihad Campus.
Normally timed to arrive an hour before kick off so probably leaving East Dids at 6.20 tonight, 1:20 for a 3pm

I think it was whilst the air ambulance was finding somewhere to land as there had been a double stabbing nearby and one person died.
