Metrolink

There's tram systems all over the world that run like clockwork, efficient & cheap , Germany for example, ours is overpriced & disorganised run by idiots , I refuse to use it even if it's pissing down.
I just don't understand a system whereby everyone has to change trams halfway through their journey regardless of where you're starting from. Absolutely bizarre and obviously designed by people who don't use it regularly.

I regularly give Metrolink another chance and always soon realize it is getting less convenient and more expensive. From Bury to the Etihad at least.

They've stopped the direct trams to alty which is a pain, though as the network grows I don't mind changing. We had a beer to let the queue die down yesterday and left when the post match stuff finished on the screen. The wait for a tram was ludicrous, despite the relatively short queue and we didn't get back until half nine!

You get soaked waiting for a team if it's pissing down because the roof doesnt cover the volume of people queuing for non-existent trams.

  1. Firstly they withdraw the direct Altrincham to Etihad Campus service – why when so many MCFC fans live to the South West of the city.
  2. I left the match as extra time started and watched from the Etihad cattle pens as a double unit left from the platform below.
  3. I managed to catch the next overcrowded double unit going to Deansgate Castlefield.
  4. I notice in Piccadilly gardens that the next tram to Altrincham from Piccadilly is scheduled for 12 minutes (why so long).
  5. I remain on the tram which after a short delay in the gardens arrives at St. Peter’s Square, where I leave it hoping to catch a Bury to Altrincham tram.
  6. The next Altrincham tram at St. Peter’s square is scheduled for 10 minutes???????
  7. The tram arrives after the 10 minutes and is a single unit that is completely overcrowded.
That means that between the commencement of extra time and when I eventually got my tram to Altrincham Metrolink provided only one single (dangerously overcrowded) unit for all fans heading to the South West of the city.

The game commenced at 5.30 pm and when extra time started the time was 7.18 pm, the single Altrincham unit arrived in St. Peter’s square at 7.57 pm.

That means that one single unit was provided in 39 minutes for fans heading to Altrincham from the Etihad Stadium.

They should be ashamed of their appalling service and should start using the extra track between the Etihad and Velodrome stops to stack empty trams on a match day.

They just don't give a flying F...

The trams back to Ashton following the game are a complete joke, dangerously overcrowded and stuck in traffic, then delaying traffic with the station traffic lights. You could not make it up.
IF They go it to run properly with the correct amount of trams/space people would use it more and reduce the road congestion

Someone had a quite nasty looking fall or medical episode leading to a fall
about half way down left hand steps leading to the platform after the match.

metrolink staff got to him very quickly, hope he recovered quickly
