Micah Richards the pundit

He gets ribbed all the time on his podcast about his ‘mutual’ allegiance so it’s hardly a big expose in the courtroom.

Don't agree with everything Micah says and would not choose him to provide any deep football analysis but from his tv persona, ex boyhood blue, part of the 2012 squad, he seems a pretty hard person to dislike. Shame some have managed it.

He's an Arse-nal fan.

And? Should I care?

He clearly has a love for City based on his life here as a kid and giving him the best footballing moments of his career.

You do know the current squad has more than a few players who grew up supporting other sides. I heard on the grapevine Pep is a Barca fan.

If he was a City fan I could maybe forgive him for being a useless pundit and for his shit 'banter'

His only purpose is banter, once people understand that, they won't measure him with the same ruler stick that they measure other pundits with.

The viewers should learn to treat Micah like a comedian, not a pundit.

If I want to listen to match analysis, he's the wrong person.
If I want to listen to infectious laughter, he's the right person.
And what should his primary role be, employed as he is as a pundit on a channel that covers football? It's not The Comedy Channel*.

*cue gags about utd matches

If anyone wears a united shirt and palls up with Roy Keane and Gary Neville I’d dislike them

Thats what his role says on the tin, but we all know thats not what its like in reality.

He's there for banter, nothing more.

He’s not a great pundit, but I think it’s a bit lame if people are getting annoyed about him supporting Arsenal, given that was his boyhood team. He’s always fair about us and was a good club servant. Some of the grief he gets is ridiculous for an ex-player who gave his all for the club.

Yup. I think people at times are guilty of projecting their own biases as fans onto others. Who cares if he’s an Arsenal fan, he clearly has a strong affection for us and he was a key part of the team that gave what for me will always be the most emotional season that I’ll ever experience as a fan.
