Micah Richards the pundit

He needs a better agent, Micah is already in danger of becoming over exposed.

I see no reason for him continuing to freelance across Sky, BBC and BT Sport, coupled with the column in Daily Mail.

Sky does seem the best fit for him because of his rapport with Keane and Souness, but there is a fine line to be walked between likeability and annoying, which comes with being over exposed across various platforms.

His technical understanding of the game is quite limited and, like Thierry Henry, there comes a moment where all the goodwill previously built up, whether it stems from being a great player or likeable personality, is exposed due to not really offering anything apart from some charisma and a barrage of superlative words.

I actually prefer Joleon. He seemed extemely uncomfortable at first but you can see he has worked hard on his punditry and dovetails quite nicely with Wio on the technical discussions.
Thought Ferdinand was funny on the technical discussion re Bernado’s goal. Even when it was spelled out to him why it was offside he then said it was a stupid law.

I posted something very similar the other day: the drive to make him the next Kris Kamera is transparent and I 'm not sure it's going to work. He needs to stop the belly laughs and quickly because they are starting to sound a bit false. His football analysis is shocking and he doesn't even know that much about his "specialist subject", City.

Costa is a free agent and would be a good addition a proven goal scorer who would be a temporary fix , £250k a week and no loan fee , he's a volatile character on the pitch but he will guarantee goals if we supply the chances , a no brainer.

Very true. Ian Wright has increasingly found himself in a similar boat down the years, playing the clown to the straight-faced Lineker and Shearer.

Wright is another who gives zero technical insight and Micah needs to decide what type of pundit he wants to become.

He did a documentary this week on racism and has a real platform to do good.

It's about sometimes toning down the laughs, although I fear when Micah does try to provide a serious opinion, he tends to lose his train of thought and his lack of knowledge on tactics and City becomes uncomfortable viewing, reverting quickly back to his use of one word superlatives and joviality?

He's new to it, I wish him well, but he needs to limit his exposure and hone his craft at present.

Wouldn't be the first ex footballer who didn't know much about the game they played.

His very words were ' I'm not bothered about the rules, its still offside'
And - here's the odd thing, - he gets invited back

I’m really enjoying seeing Micah comment on our games.
We know he is a blue, and he just strikes me as a really genuine, and friendly sort of bloke, who I for one can associate with.
He provides a great contrast to the arsehole Keane, and I wish him all the best in this career

Agree totally. As well as Wright there are other TV pundits without much football knowledge: Shearer is the obvious one, but he is viewed as an "institution" I suppose.
