Micah Richards

He stands out. For mostly the wrong reasons! Shows how quickly this team has developed really.

MIcah really needs some consistent game time. I think in certain games he takes a somewhat too attacking mindset. Last night he was constantly ahead of Navas, and was not making useful runs where he could be picked out, but was more infield compacting things. Richards can be excellent, just watch the 6-1 at the swamp, him and Milner were brilliant down the right in that game. Last night he was over committing going forward and was leaving a lot of room at the back that better sides would exploit. He also reminds me of an NFL player, he charges in full steam and puts his body on the line, there is no need for it. Football is a physical sport but in the modern game the refs don't need to see much to blow their whistle and he will only cause himself injuries. I have nothing against putting 100% in but if you watch Zabaleta he knows when to stand up and when to dive into things. Richards needs to concentrate on football over physique. But he is a talented player and given a consistent run in the side I am confident he will be very important. There are no other right backs in the world that could out pace and out muscle all other players and burst forward like him, when he is on form and charging forward he is very difficult to play against. Can just see him at the Nou Camp charging forward and scoring the winner!

The pace at which this club progresses has sadly left behind players such as Micah.

His previously flaws are now even more horribly exposed.

It doesn't help when you are in direct comparison to Zabaleta, for me, one of the finest right-backs in world football as things stand.

What is really starting to stand out is his indecisiveness, a lack of awareness was always there, but he has seemingly started to hide, standing so far off any player in his zone, he actually contributes nothing defensively, aside from pointing to Navas that he should be where Richards actually should be?

Think it will get to the stage where the club are just pulling him along, maintaining an unwarranted reputation as a 'top player', simply by association of being at a top club.

Just as the likes of Cleverley and others have seemed to get away with at United for so many years.
