Michael Johnson arrested

Seriously, fuck him!!! There was no doubting he had a little bit of potential but for the majority of the games he played he did fuck all. He was hyped up by Blues desperate for the good times to come again and his potential was being shown when Sven arrived; perfect timing.
The club have been amazing with him, now he needs to be thrown on the scrap heap. All the people who have slandered other Blues for letting slip about his booze-fuelled reputation should hang their heads because it seems like these 'rumours' were a lot more than that. Somebody could've died as a result of his actions last night, whether it had been him or somebody else, whatever.
The likes of Lakey deserve sympathy for their careers being ruined by genuine shit luck etc., this tosser deserves fuck all, and I know I'll get slaughtered for this but it's true.

Fuck him the waste of space he has had loads of chances, sitting on 35k a week being a fat pisshead. He has ruined his own life and I hope we sack him. Wont be long before he plays for FC United or some shite team in the dregs of English football.

Massive shame, lad had incredible potential, gotta feel for him with his injury problems but turning to drink and drink driving is no excuse!

Hopefully should be a wake up call and can sort himself a new life!

Right,

I've read all the damning posts over this issue and I think something needs clarifying.

Firstly, if he was arrested on suspicion of drink driving, he will have either blown over the limit at the roadside, OR been arrested on suspicion of being impaired through drink or drugs.

Once at the cop shop he will have given 2 breath specimens* and the lower reading would be used. Now then, this is the important part. If the reading is below a certain figure, then the cops cannot charge because it is borderline and so a more accurate result i.e. blood is used. A blood test is taken and sent for analysis. In the meantime, the suspect is bailed pending that result.

So basically, as he was bailed and not charged, this means that he was borderline, and possibly under, so please don't be making assumptions straightaway.

*This is assuming he wasn't too pissed to give the breath specimens.

Having said all that, I personally believe, as a footballer, he should be teetotal or drink very little, so to get into this mess in the first place is pretty bad form really and he deserves all the criticism he receives from everyone up to a point. BUT, until he has been proven to be over the limit and is charged, I don't think people should make the assumption that he is guilty.

He's never going to be good enough for us now, the club has spent far too much time, effort and money with no reward. Yes it's sad but I think keeping him is more harm than good this arrest doesn't really change that, only perhaps it makes it easier to pull the trigger on his career. We ain't a charity.

City have made a reappraisal of Johnson’s current contract, and are thought to have offered him a “double-your-money”, five-year deal to secure his future at Eastlands.

Hughes has been impressed with the 20-year-old since arriving as manager from Blackburn, and has signed off on proposing to Johnson a new £25,000-a-week deal.

As yet, the deal has not been finalised, but Hughes, who has already successfully orchestrated contract extensions for Richard Dunne and Joe Hart, is confident that Johnson will sign.

“Contract discussions are taking place and we certainly want Michael to stay,” Hughes said.

“He won’t find anywhere better to develop than here. He understands where the club wants to go and I am sure that he wants to be part of it. We fully expect him to stay with City for years to come

He was taken to hospital after the accident, so its likely they wouldn't have a breath analyser there, which probably explains why he had a blood test instead, but none of us know why.

I love how people condemn so quickly, demanding jail etc, without knowing anything about the case. When I last looked he was still one of our players, yet some of the reaction from so called fans in this thread is bordering on ridiculous, he'd probably have got less grief if he'd been a united player.

He's still a young footballer who lets face it, has had it both easy and difficult in his career so far, easy in the sense he had the talent to do what most of us football lovers will never get, yet difficult in that he has been plagued by injuries, some minor, some niggling, and one pretty serious, an injury which has ended many a career. I'm sure its quite depressing if you are a professional sportsman, and depression often leads to drink. In his time with us, he's been at a club who suddenly went from relegation scrappers, to lottery winning champions. Even without the injuries, he'd probably have gone from near the top of the pecking order, to virtually the bottom.

His drinking may or may not be related to that, and it may or may not be a serious issue in his life, personally I'm glad he didn't kill someone, or himself, and for now wish him well, and hope he can get through yet another difficult period in his life, all be it one of his own making this time.

I also hope the club act well in this matter, if he is indeed charged with drink driving, I hope they don't just ditch him like some would like, I hope they help get him the help he probably needs. He probably is surplus to requirements at the club now, but that is no reason for them to abandon him at this time.

His footballing future should not be over either, even if it is at City, and hopefully City and the PFA will help him get another team, so that he can have a chance of utilising some of his talent in the years he has left in football.

But i thought all these stories of people seeing him pissed many times was all made up bollocks...............................
