...As for the comment about his personality someone made .... he's one of the only City players that stops and signs everything for the kids... takes time in talking to them with photos n all...

You mean like this?

the whole point of this we wouldn't have to pay his contract up as he is in breach of his contract under medical grounds so whilst I agree it would be harsh to cut him off with no payment I think we should tell Johnson to take a lower figure to ensure the club don't pursue this track.

win win the club reduce wage bill and get a player off the books who is unlikely to ever make the grade now IE top four club and the player would be free to do whatever he wished even playing for a lower div club in the future

Why is he in breach of his contract? He's not.

People seem to treat him like a benefits cheat. He doesn't want to be injured, and he is trying to get fit.

What would you rather be doing, playing football and training with the lads, or sitting on a bike in the gym, peddling for 3 hours on your own, because I know what I would like to do. No matter what people like to think, he's not just sat there taking his pay, he is in nearly every day trying to get back to full fitness.

Not only that, he is missing out on very exciting times at the club.

Great post this OP, totally agree

Sick of this piss head taking 30 gs a week of us

About time it stopped

What stopped?! You make it sound like he's doing something wrong.

there comes a point where for whatever reason he is failing to meet his obligations IE to play football for the club

City certainly have grounds to rip up his contract

the same would apply to any worker who for no fault of their own became disabled they could be dismissed on medical grounds no employer can be expected to continue to employ anyone who cannot do their job

You may find that his contract wont allow them to rip it up through injury thats why players get pay offs when they retire through injury as the club insure the players against this. Unless your west ham and sign a player to a contract when he is injured meaning you cant insure him and said injury ends his career

[quote="So please City terminate this guys contract and let him be someone elses problem.

He is someone else's problem - not yours, unless YOU are paying his wages.

Well following City home and away for the past 17 years I probably have made some sort of contribution towards this wasters wages.
[/quote]

Before your time then but would you have fucked King Colin Bell off in the same manner?

Johnson was a great promising player at a time when we badly needed that sort of thing. Ok, City's situation has moved on since he first came on the scene and we don't really need him anymore but is your way the way that most City fans want the club to go in future.
I think not.

Blue boys stick together.....

Blue boys stick together, is Johnson even a blue? Regardless if that is your view point can we give Jo and RSC and these sort of players the same sort of respect?

So why pick only on Johnson in your original post.

Yes, I do think that just because he is a local lad maybe he should be given some extra slack. But that's just my opinion.

I don't know when his contract is up for renewal, but when that time comes I agree he should have to prove he is worthy of another one but until that time I think we should keep our side of the bargain.

I have had a season ticket since '76 and i am happy that the small fraction of the money I have spent which could be attributed to paying his wage is worth the enjoyment I have gained from watching him play. I am not so sure about RSC and Jo.

Well that's a poor attitude that you will give a player extra slack who has hardly played more than 20 minutes in the last few years and has done themselves no favours in their recovery, than give the same lever of support to players that actually pull on the shirt?

I've only picked on Johnson as I don't recall any other players that are still on our books, who have not played in years and go out and get bladdered.

no because Colin Bell had done something for the club before his injury and to the best of my knowledge Colin Bell was never reported out on the lash etc during his rehabilitation

Players tend to support the club that they play for more than their boyhood clubs, but he was a Leeds fan growing up.

Either way, last I heard he was going, and I've heard nothing since that makes me change that.

In my view Johnson has done more for City in his utimately doomed career than Jo or RSC.

Not sure if i am in the minority on this matter but to be honest if I am now considered to have a "poor attitude" in the way I support city by fellow blues then its time for me to take a good look at myself.
