Michael Johnson.....

Firstly I want to wish the lad all the best and I'm truely gutted we will never see him at his footballing best, because he appeared to have it all.

However I think serious, serious questions need to be asked now about firstly how this happened, and why hasn't the support been sufficient enough to help him recover? I know it can be argued that 'one needs to accept help in order to be helped' but I have suspicions that are a little more deep rooted.

Johnson isn't the first player to come through the ranks at City and have shall we say 'unstable mental issues' is he? Look at Barton and look at Stevie Ireland?

Now I accept that all three are completely different cases but the problems are all based around the quality of the individuals mental stability. Bartons a headcase, Irelands just weird and Jonno has gone off the rails at an early age.

Whilst we are putting this wonderful training facility in place in order to create the best home grown players, I hope someone within the club has taken note that not all players are mentally sound, and we need a lot lot more than fancy training pitches to create balanced individuals in the future.

Thats a point if he looked well and fit on the picture with the latest kit on how come mancini didnt put him on the bench on the carling cup game or try to loan him again

He could have had a last chance to prove himself

I could be wrong and he could have been injured when the picture with the latest city kit on

City have tried to keep this hush hush,at the request of MJ,from what I hear.Leaving him out of any photos would have resulted in questions being asked,at the start of the season.

-- Wed Jan 16, 2013 9:49 pm --

The Club would have worked very closely with the PFA on matters like this and City have not taken this lightly I can assure you.

the new King Colin some cried

what a shame he didn't share the king's post-injury work ethic, determination and never say die attitude

Such a shame. A player with heaps of potential would've shone alongside some of the talent we have now, as he showed in glimpses alongside Elano and co.

-- Wed Jan 16, 2013 11:06 pm --

It's easy to dismiss depression. Nobody in their right mind would piss away a fantastic opportunity that the football career brings. That pretty sums up the point don't you think?

Work ethic, determination and never say die attitude cant clear mental problems.

Why do people think this is so?

Can Work ethic, determination and never say die attitude clear you of any other medical problem? No can it fuck, you need help and patience and understanding and proper medical prognosis and treatment.

And im sure King Colin must have had some very dark days, but he was perhaps mentally stronger to cope. It is impossible to measure mental strength

from didactic's trolling (why on earth do people even reply to him) to some of the unbelievable shit from people who think they are fucking experts on mental illness\money\how the club has dealt with MJ, this has to be a contender for the most shameful thread ever on BM

Every time I see that derby goal It just makes me think what could have been. I really do think he'd have a lot of caps for England and would be a key player even in our star studded squad now. I do think there was a lot he could have done himself to aid his recovery but also feel bad for him that injuries robbed him of a promising career.

Im tired of there being threads on here about players, managers blah blah and people throw in their own experiences and start turning the crowds to their beliefs just because they have their own opinions. There has been no evidence provided that Johnson had any mental issues. Does this mean I am pissing on all the other blues who DO have/had them? No it does not. And having issues does not excuse drunk driving or being a general asshole to people. Stop putting these players on an undeserved pedestal. He was gambling and drinking before the injuries and its intensified after. Why? Because its fun, because not everyone can remain focused enough to be a successful professional athlete. This happens more often than we are told now lets stop all the "I had mental problems and he has mental problems bollocks". People fuck up in life without needing excuses.

The Priory is an ADDICTION center so by mental issues he is talking about his drinking, gambling and whatever else.

No it isn't, it's a private psychiatric hospital which also treats addictions.

Good post mate. I agree!
