Middle East Conflict (merged) | Iran launch missile attack after Israel invade Lebanon

How many ?
I don’t know how many people are being pursued by the police and it doesn’t really matter. Again, they are not being pursued due to their opposition to Israel, but for out and out hate crimes. There was also the incident outside the Abbey Road synagogue where people leaving the temple yesterday evening were being threatened and faced a barrage of anti-Semitic abuse.

Personally I think that when people are being targeted because they choose to practice a certain religion, then we have a major problem and we need to get to the bottom of it. People pretending that it doesn’t happen aren’t helping the situation.

Just to think that’s just one amongst thousands with this mindset. Majority will be peaceful, but let’s not bury our head in sand. That alone is worst than a few hundred coked up footy fans having a scrap with the police, something they probably do every week.

Shhhh, we don’t want to hear or acknowledge there are people like this.

It seems to be Sunak's stance as well, to claim a moral equivalence between right wing thugs looking for violence (at the instigation of his home Secretary) and some nasty banners on a peaceful march. At least he's not said there were "some fine people on both sides".
I have often been critical over the years of all shades of gov but, for the first time, I am deeply ashamed of it. Not a word from Braverman about the right wing thugs, false moral equivalence as you say from the PM. Meanwhile, 4000 children lie under the rubble of Gaza. Other decent countries have rightly been highly critical of Israel, we have said nothing.

How many ? And why cant they say they hate israel ?

Some weren't directing their anger at the Israeli state but Jewish people in general.

One lady had the Star of David with the Nazi insignia. Two wore Hamas headbands.

A minority of the marchers but we can't ignore them.

Edit: if you're on twitter the Metropolitan Police have a substantial thread asking for information on hate crimes from the march.

Do you have any knowledge of the IHRA definition of antisemitism? Here it is...

Contemporary examples of antisemitism in public life, the media, schools, the workplace, and in the religious sphere could, taking into account the overall context, include, but are not limited to:

  • Calling for, aiding, or justifying the killing or harming of Jews in the name of a radical ideology or an extremist view of religion.
  • Making mendacious, dehumanizing, demonizing, or stereotypical allegations about Jews as such or the power of Jews as collective — such as, especially but not exclusively, the myth about a world Jewish conspiracy or of Jews controlling the media, economy, government or other societal institutions.
  • Accusing Jews as a people of being responsible for real or imagined wrongdoing committed by a single Jewish person or group, or even for acts committed by non-Jews.
  • Denying the fact, scope, mechanisms (e.g. gas chambers) or intentionality of the genocide of the Jewish people at the hands of National Socialist Germany and its supporters and accomplices during World War II (the Holocaust).
  • Accusing the Jews as a people, or Israel as a state, of inventing or exaggerating the Holocaust.
  • Accusing Jewish citizens of being more loyal to Israel, or to the alleged priorities of Jews worldwide, than to the interests of their own nations.
  • Denying the Jewish people their right to self-determination, e.g., by claiming that the existence of a State of Israel is a racist endeavor.
  • Applying double standards by requiring of it a behavior not expected or demanded of any other democratic nation.
  • Using the symbols and images associated with classic antisemitism (e.g., claims of Jews killing Jesus or blood libel) to characterize Israel or Israelis.
  • Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis.
  • Holding Jews collectively responsible for actions of the state of Israel.
Nowhere does it say that you can't criticise Israel for its actions. But it does set out examples of what is regarded as antisemitic, which includes denying Jews the right to self-determination, comparing Israel to the Nazis and requiring it of a behaviour not expected of any other democratic nation.

One of those protestors had a poster of a Star of David with a swastika inside it. Thats antisemitic. There were other instances of antisemitic behaviour.

Jews coming out of a Sabbath morning service at a synagogue in St John's Wood were harassed by some of these protestors making their way to the march. There's a Chinese takeaway in Prestwich that threw some Jewish customers out screaming "We don't serve Jews". A pizza restaurant in Leeds has said "Zionists not welcome here". But will either get prosecuted? Probably not. There's been a huge increase in antisemitism in the UK in the last few weeks. I don't disclose my religion at work, having been discriminated against once simply for being born Mewish. You have no fucking idea what it's like to live in fear.
