Middle East Conflict | Netanyahu orders strikes on Gaza (p1161)

Whilst I totally disagree with what Israel are doing.... a way to stop it is for Hamas to release the hostages.

So the question is: what would be the impact of Hamas releasing the hostages? I think it would give them the upper hand in the negotiations wouldn't it?

I just wish they'd release them then the rest of the world could pressure Israel to stop the bombing. Until they are released I'm afraid it's highly likely Israel will persist.

So Hamas, protect your people and release the hostages that you really had no right to take in the first place.

This was happening. Israel violated the ceasefire on multiple occasions before today and a couple of weeks ago decided to starve, stop all water and electricity to everyone in Gaza, a clear violation of the ceasefire so Hamas quite rightly wouldn't release any more hostages.

Now yet another monstrous terrorist israeli attack murdering hundreds of civilians. How can you have peace with these people if they renege on every agreement and are happy to bomb thousands of children? And you think if hamas release the israeli hostages/prisoners now that israel will suddenly change?

The ceasefire was supposed to build trust and release hostages (on both sides - israel holds a lot more palestinian hostages than hamas does). Israel has destroyed any hope of that throughout the ceasefire with their constant breaches of the ceasefire, and now this

Israel doesn't want peace or give a fuck about hostages. They want the palestinian land, and they don't care who they have to murder for them to get it, Israeli or not (the clue is that they keep bombing israeli hostages and killed X amount on october 7th)

Killing Israelies and taking hostages is/was not the answer though... as we are sadly witnessing right now.

They can keep hold of the hostages and continue to be battered or they can release the hostages and plead to the rest of the world to get Israel to stop.

For me there is only one albeit unbearable, realistic option of stopping their country continuing being slaughtered.

Leaves a horrible taste but, Hamas are unlikely to ever compete militarily with Israel and the rest of the world is hardly rushing to support .... much bigger fish to fry.

They'd already tried peaceful protests and israel shot them

Hamas and its offshoots will never win militarily. On the flipside, given the deaths every year, they rather die trying instead of being totally cleansed out by IDF and settlers as how the aborigines of Australia were killed by state sanctioned killings from 1.5 million aborigines to less than 100,000 aborigines. The aborigines had spears but the migrants had firearms.

If the aborigines had capable armed militias, aborigines will have had more chances of survival than their 1.35 million being killed.

Reading all that, one inescapable truth is that human beings are cunts.

I genuinely don't know. Perhaps you could give an opinion?

All I believe is that the hostages are innocent civilians that should not continue to be held. Regardless of the actions of the Israeli military and government, the hostages are innocent people and quite frankly anyone that feels there is justification for holding them needs to step back and think through the unfortunate consequences which we are already witnessing today.

What if these were innocent British civilians kidnapped by a lesser armed state? Would we expect the British military to get involved?

The Palestinians poked the bear too hard and are now realising the consequences. Definitely a case of them starting this particular skirmish so they should (because they can) finish it.

It really is their call, if they choose not to then don't complain when the Israelies continue to bomard them... because they can.
Israel have made it clear they don’t give a fuck about the hostages by breaking the ceasefire deal. It’s one of their thin veils for their continuous levelling of Palestine.

Even the families of the hostages agree, and have been protesting, that the Israeli government is demonstrating they have given up on securing their return.

Netanyahu needs to fucking rot.

And trump will give them support with money, arms, morals to enable his riviera dream and his aspirations for Nobel honours

The eye for an eye crowd following Matthew chapter 5 (New Testament? Can't be the Old Testament gang, but there we are) seem to ignore the next verse

5:38 Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:
5:39 But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

If we could only abolish religious doctrines...

An eye for an eye? How would the families of the remaining Israeli hostages/reservists feel if their loved ones were treated as human shields and were returned in pieces having been blown up by the IDF?

This is what Palestinian families in Gaza and the West Bank are dealing with every day at the hands of the genocidal IDF.

Murdering bastards!!

‘Murderers’ is the optimum word.

Perhaps the IDF gave most of the lads the night off.
Only 14 were murdered in Gaza last night. I'm sure things will be back to normal tonight though, i mean how can you eliminate everybody if you are only murdering 14 in one night ?

Another thing out of yesterday's deplorable israeli terrorist attack is that there was no warning at all, which is another (pathetic) argument down for the gullible morons who seem to think it is ok to bomb people as long as you drop a note telling them first (even if the bombers then just happen to bomb the supposed safe place afterwards as well)

1992. Serbian 'christians' set about ethni cleansing of muslims.
The world was horrified but typically slow to react. It wasn't until 1995 that peace via the UN was restored. By then many thousands of Muslims had been slaughtered.

When is the world going to stop hiding from this massacre and stop it ?

I don't disagree with this thought except to say that the rest of the world would react in a negative way which would get them to pressurise Israel to stop.

You're not supporting the continued kidnap and holding of the hostages are you?
You're not supporting genocide are you as a response to hostage-taking?

Who broke the ceasefire that had resulted in the release of most of the hostages?

Not supporting genocide at all, in fact the opposite. Releasing the hostages will be a massive lever for the rest of the world to use get the Israelies to stop their bombardment. Don't release the hostages and it is most likely to continue.

Are you supporting genocide by giving Israel what they consider to be a legal response to their citizens being kidnapped?

Daft question I know but only as daft as yours.

What about before the hostages taken? Or did this only start 7th October 2023?
