They could have toned down the indiscriminate attacks / revenge (after the initial response to the 7 Oct atrocities). Secured a ceasefire to get more hostages released, and pursued targeted special forces operations against the terrorist leaders, like they have in the past.

None of this is simple of course but most of the world now consider Israel to be a terrorist regime.

Yet all Palestinians are classed as either terrorists or terrorist sympathisers and disgusting for not being able to overthrow Hamas yet in Israel they could vote for a different party to take control yet have allowed Netanyahu to stay in power.
