Middle East Conflict

I am interested in what will happen with the genocide charges.

Personally, I find it hard to believe ICJ lawyers will be buying any nonsense about self-defence or precision bombing and won't look too favourably on the destruction of homes, services and the buildings of government. I doubt genocide will be upheld, but it may make tough reading for the Israelis and the Americans. I suppose that would make the ICJ criminally complicit?

Anybody else any thoughts?

Not the endgame but provide more informed conjectures given his background in defending for South Africa, Bosnia, Hawaii, even Palestine.

Francis Boyle

Of course, one lone lawyer does not maketh a win.

The public line of the American government seems to be that statements from high-ranking members of the Israeli government do not, in fact, represent the views of the Israeli government, for some reason or another.

I’ve been mentioning Smotrich and Ben Gvir far earlier in the thread.

Both of them live in their houses in the illegal occupied land. Smotrich is a public racist, and Ben Gvir is a staunch supporter of Kahanism.

The three stooges do not represent the liberal Jews who, without Irgun and zionist, will live peacefully with Palestinians like the halcyon days.

Hope to god this bombing in Iran is not linked to Israel, over 103 people dead. Could be ISIS or one of their offshoots trying to stir the pot, no one has come forward claiming it yet.

There are quite a few Sunni linked terror groups in Iran or who have dealings with them via proxy through Syria, as well as the targets being related to someone not liked by the public who openly dislike their rulers. Those killed were regime supporters and IRGC, who would be a prime target for those wanting revenge for those murdered/executed following last years protests.

It could equally be some sort of Israeli supported group, the same way Iran supports Hamas, Houthi's and Hezbollah, maybe Israel are doing similar to harm Iran internally.

Its probably hard to know with so many groups involved.

Uncertain how many of the IOF in Gaza has been killed by friendly-fire as per the video update below (of 469 soldiers killed in combat), but I do remember the one of the earliest killed on their first day of ground invasion was because the tank turned turtle and one of its own was killed.

If the IOF really want to minimise and morally be more battle-ready, leave out the TikTok generation and PUBG reservists. Ground combat is a serious deal on both sides.

Not just people.

"The Great Omari Mosque, one of the most important and ancient mosques of historic Palestine (which was a temple first, a christian basilica after that and since 1500 years a mosque) has been destroyed. The Mamluk heritage sites in old Gaza, which houses a museum completely destroyed. The Ottoman baths completely destroyed. A museum in Rafah destroyed. Ancient christian churces destroyed. The list goes on. The representative of a European organization monitoring Gaza's cultural sites said that the destruction has been unprecedented." (Only place I've seen reference to this is a comment in a Haaretz thread.)

Thats not representative of the Israeli people. Its a couple of extreme ministers in their govn.
You may be right but are people not always claiming that Israel is a democratic country? If so, then why aren't people who are elected and ministers not representative of Israeli people?

As I said, you may be right but the two arguments do not go together?
