Middle East Conflict

I was replying to the Palestine quote. Where somehow the Palestinians have to behave themselves and the Murderers may throw them a few crumbs.
Didn't follow the thread correctly , but it still stands , it just takes two sides to tango, not something that looks likely anytime soon

They didn't steal loads of Egyptian land nor did they bomb Cairo from the air.
We could go go through lots of what they did and didn't do from both sides .. some people allow themselves to see that some don't , some have experienced it first hand some just chose what they read

So is Israel now at war with Syria?
That's why I said I am not sure I will approve of what they do next, but as a defensive measure a large buffer zone makes sense to me. Somehow I doubt that will be the end of it, though.
They'll settle the buffer zone then demand a buffer zone round the buffer zone.

BBC's Jeremy Bowen actually citing the "Iron Wall" doctrine of Jabotinsky in 1923. Here's his morality:

Yet if homeless Jewry demands Palestine for itself it is "immoral" because it does not suit the native population. Such morality may be accepted among cannibals, but not in a civilised world. The soil does not belong to those who possess land in excess but to those who do not possess any. It is an act of simple justice to alienate part of their land from those nations who are numbered among the great landowners of the world, in order to provide a place of refuge for a homeless, wandering people. And if such a big landowning nation resists which is perfectly natural – it must be made to comply by compulsion. Justice that is enforced does not cease to be justice. This is the only Arab policy that we shall find possible. As for an agreement, we shall have time to discuss that later.

During the 6 day war in 1967 Israel took the Sinai peninsula and returned it as part of the 1979 peace deal. That excluded Gaza because Egypt didn’t want it despite it being under Egyptian control pre-1967.

How about a greater Turkey?

That’s basically the Ottoman Empire without most of the North African coast. Looks like Erdogan may have similar delusions as Putin looking to rebuild a former empire.
Maybe it’s time for us to retake Canada, Australia, India and the rest of the former British Empire?

and the Balkans .... but that has already been Balkanised to the degree where there is no going back 3 decades never mind 11. Not complete fantasists then ...

Kind of why I struggle to take these 'existential threats' seriously and again Erdogan is swimming against a stronger tide of history here.

I'm with you....first stop mandatory Palestine :-)

Looks like israel has targetted and murdered another journalist. It seems they bombed her family home, killing her and her son and at least 3 other people

Anyone know the number of journalists they've targetted and murdered so far? Fuck me can you imagine how many would have been killed if israel hadn't banned all journalists from Gaza (so that israel could slaughter the Palestinian people with fewer people being aware of it).

It's extremely difficult to keep up with the sheer number of monstrosities that israel commits on a daily if not hourly basis
