It’s horrible.Thing is the cycle never really breaks. Yes they’re clearly stupid and the actions they have perpetrated are horrendous and Hamas deserve to rot for it. Raising Gaza to the ground and the deaths of citizens ultimately just fosters the next generation though that grow up with anger, resentment and in conditions where they feel they’ve got nothing to lose anyway. That’s when the acts they perpetrate get even worse and the cycle continues to the next generation. They’ll then do something horrific and Israel will react to it. And repeat.
Israel clearly has to act, any country would be compelled to after an act like that. Every act including how you retaliate has a consequence though. It’s a never ending situation which is looking further away from a way out than it has done for a long while right now. There needs to be such a big shift in the leadership of both countries for there to even be a chance.
The next few days and weeks are going to be horrific. I hope Israel has a plan for if it is aiming to remove Hamas completely though, even if the instinct right now is understandably all about retribution.
The problem would be the Palestinians would be unwelcome guests in these 2 countries.Isreal

Retribution is understandable. The Americans wanted to lash out after 9/11 but that action led to another 2400 deaths of servicemen and almost 500 of ours too and it resolved nothing.

They are , but most are prity well trained , Isreal have compulsory Military conscription at 18 and are reservists untill 40One of our partners at work is Israel based and a few of their account managers have been taken off our account as they've been enlisted by the military.
Looks like Israel are calling up a lot of their reserves, can't say I am up to date with everything that's going on but we work with this partner on a daily basis and that's hit home a lot as these are just normal folk with day jobs being pulled into the frontline.
