Middle East Conflict

Usually this just means that they're rotating deployed tankers or they could be trailing more fighter jets into Europe. Where they head afterwards (if anywhere) would certainly be interesting.

One crazy thing that I've noticed is the insane level of GPS jamming and spoofing that is happening in Israel. They're even spoofing the position of aircraft in the area to point towards Beirut airport... This is probably to combat the Iranian drone threat.

Go on Flightradar and look at Beirut airport (search: OLBA), sometimes aircraft appear on the ground there which are actually airborne flying hundreds of miles away.
And flight LS966 from Larnaca to Manchester last night didn't show up at all on flightradar, but the flight history of the aircraft says it flew Beirut to Manchester...

I'm told a fairly common thing.

Sorry but this is not normal - this IS incitement to war crimes and this guy should be put on notice if he travels anywhere outside Israel he will be arrested and taken to the Hague - he is talking about the way the Nazi's treated the Jews in the camps and the ghettos and should be ashamed

Flightradar relies upon the ADS-B GPS returns from aircraft. When the aircraft starts up and communications begin the website will think that the aircraft is in Beirut due to the spoofing and so it assumes that the flight starts there. It's odd that it doesn't show at all though, usually the aircraft will just 'appear' in the right place once out of the problem region.

Jamming/spoofing doesn't affect the aircraft itself though. Aircraft have their own internal inertial navigation system which GPS supplements. The aircraft trusts this internal system above GPS so it'll recognise that the GPS location has changed and then just ignore it.

It's not ideal to fly like this as inertial navigation has a flaw where positional errors build up over time, GPS is used to correct these errors so it's fine to go without GPS but preferably only for shorter priods (usually < 4hrs).

This, for me, is a must read perspective from a Jewish person, with strong ties to Israel (their family is Israeli, but they live away), who visited a month ago and was struck by the “pathological stasis” that currently exists in Israel.

I can say my own discussions with family and friends in Israel mirror hers.

That's a revealing article. Even saying the "antisemitic" thing that October 7th had causes (at least it was antisemitic to say it "didn't happen in a vacuum").

I heard that. Unbelievable, and he surely doesn't believe it.
He probably doesn’t, as he regularly says things that are incredulous and/or easily falsifiable.

But there are many that believe what he said; even a few on here.
