Mike Doyle tribute ?

Received an email this morning from my supprters club:

A message from the General Secretary regarding Sunday;

Those of you old enough will remember that Mike Doyle was our Captain the last time we played (and Won) in a League Cup Final against Newcastle in 1976 (Doyle eats Magpies was the Slogan at the time I recall)

Mike wore the number 4 shirt with pride and never did get a minutes applause when he died

There are moves afoot for City fans to remember Mike by chanting "there's only 1 Mike Doyle" in the 4th minute of Sundays game

So if you agree forward this one to all City fans you know

It seems this is being communicated through the OSC's too.

I had the same email too. Seems the OSC are trying to push it. If you are in the OSC but you haven't received the email, get them to send it ASAP.

As anyone sent information to Skysports as they are the main point of sport today.

That is a great idea. However, I think the request would have to come from the club.

2011 spirit of young. 2014 spirit of doyle ?

Doyley never got the minutes applause at the 2012 community shield or at the first home game that season

He was for so long the last City captain to hold up a trophy - the 76 league cup

Any thoughts on a chant of 'one mike doyle' after 4 minutes (his shirt number) or on 76 ?

Maybe the club could get on board and give it some publicity ?

I loved him too; I always thought the partnership of him and Big Dave was the best in my time, perhaps even better than Tommy Booth and George Heslop (although I was very young when I watched Big George, RIP)
