Mike Yarwood

Used to enjoy his Christmas specials when I was a kid and he was very talented, sadly, as has been mentioned, he never recovered when Thatcher took over and his main political characters such as Heath and Wilson were no longer relevant.

Irrespective, I thought he was very talented and used to thoroughly enjoy his impressions. Another person from my childhood no longer around.

RIP Mike and thank you for all the laughs you gave us!!

He was head and shoulders above everyone else in his craft in his heyday and made some great seventies TV, setting the standard that inspired others such as Rory Bremner and John Culshaw.

It was sad to see a young man struggle to adapt when his star faded but that was because he fit too well into the establishment of existing light entertainment megastars such as Morecambe & Wise, Tommy Cooper and Frankie Howerd so when that got swept away by the new age of TV, he went with it.

RIP Mike

Bloody hell another one’s gone, I remember him on Saturday nights as a kid, very good at what he did, obviously never seen him since the early 80s, I often wonder what happens to them looking at wiki he ended up on stage but fell into do depression. Say hello to Parky, Tommy and Morecambe and Wise RIP.
