Must admit I used to wonder how he got his own show on tv. Some of his mimes were terrible.He never sounded like any ****. He woukd end a song by saying, and this is me. I was only a little lad but even then I knew he was a ****.
I thought he was night club cabaret standard.

A real silly Billy who had a few good impressions like Wilson and heath but didn’t really evolve his act and I think got surpassed by better acts, but in his day was definitely very popular indeed

He was. He had Robin Day, then all the ones he sounded a tiny bit like were gone and he was left doing people he sounded fuck all like.Must admit I used to wonder how he got his own show on tv. Some of his mimes were terrible.
I thought he was night club cabaret standard.

RIP to the man, I used to see him many times in Edgeley park back in the 70s, always seemed a very shy guy, hated to be recognised.
