Without naming names (but you can probably guess who), I have been speaking to a lad I know who is a United / England Physio, and he has told me that Milner should complete his medical today. Great news.

On a different note, he also told me that when Owen Hargreeves went to have the pre op for his knees in Germany, the consultant told him that he was going to operate on his better knee first. He then told my mate, that the better knee is still one of the worst knees he has ever come accross in football! Excellent news.

Even as a City fan I feel sympathy for Hargreaves. England's best player by a million miles at the 2006 world cup and he's been ravaged by tendonitis. It's a real shame.

Great news for City fans.

City get a player who will fit perfectly into our squad, and Villa get the deal they wanted. And although Ireland seems to have been reluctant to leave maybe there were contractual issues that needed resolving. Furthermore I think the player needed a move. His form had dipped and he lost a lot of confidence and City's holding midfield didn't suit his game.

excellent signing, shame a good worker has come in with one leaving but temperment wise they are completly different. onother soldier along with tevez and de jong to add to some flare, hight and power..I would be happy to continue our season with our squad but if rumours are true Luiz and or ibra would make this transfer market an unbeatable one for any team to match even Madrid.

Your loaded a bit like us paying the paper bill for the month upfront so the money isn't the issue . Milner will be player of the season at your place and he will show the prima donnas on the pitch what needs to be done not mouthing off to em like Bellamy . However if you honestly asked me would I take the deal you bet I would . We wouldn't get above 20 mill off anyone else so I aint got no probs with it . Ireland negotiated an exec box as part of the deal for his grandparents to use for the games so already we are making him feel at home .

Just wanted to take this opportunity to once again say thank you for your posts... they have been interesting, seemingly accurate (in terms of the Ireland swap, we'll know for sure by then end of the day) and respectful. We get a lot of fans of other teams coming on here and making tits of themselves but you have been fantastic... I'd be more than happy to buy you a pint when we player Villa.

Hope the impending transfer switch doesn't mean the end of your posting on bluemoon as it is always nice to get an outsiders views of whats happening with our club. We're over the moon with the transformation of our club but sometimes it feels as if the entire press and all of the other teams are against us.

There has been quite a bit of emotion on both forums but I do think other Villa posters on here have tried to put across a reasonable opinion . Course no Villa fan is going to be happy about losing our second best player ( Leave Ashley alone please will ya ) but it's the way of the world I remember us pinchinh Billy McBingo Neil from you and him relegating both of us in a season !

I don't begrudge you your money you have been through some proper crap so it's your time .

I maintain Milner is no world beater and please do not compare him to Gerrard as you will be disappointed he played 6 good sorry very good months in centre midfield but his attitude / work rate and adaptability are top draw . He will be a fans favourite providing you appreciate what he can do for the team it's not what he does on the ball it's what he also does off the ball . He came off the pitch saturday and said to Albrighton you now need to play like that for another 37 games as thats the standard . He will be very popular at City !

As for us the deal is beyond belief and honestly I think if we wouldn't have sold himnow come the summer he could have gone for 20 tops maybe 18 . Its a good deal for us as Ireland doesn't become a bad player over night it's a bit like saying Rooney is poor after a World Cup , we will sort Ireland out with tlc !

Really am quite surprised and pleased this deal happened in the end. Really thought it would fall through as, Ireland didnt want to go to villa clearly, wanted to stay in Manchester with his family, no manager at villa. Asked for a daft pay off (Which the club seemed willing to make in the end)

VIlla already lost their mangaer over this deal, now they have lost their best player in the end as well. Affter Villa (and Milners) performance on Saturday and the way they gave him such a good reception they must be a little disappointed hes going in the end ?

Looking at the assists from Saturday and last season Milner seem to score a fair number of villas goals and is there most creative player assists wise. They have Ireland now but it going to take time for him to settle and more importantly get match fit. Performance could suffer in the short term for them.

I guess the money will compensate in the end it will give their new manager so cash to spend, remains to be seen how much of it ends up with the manager though, the chairman seems to have pocketed all the money Villa have brought in for transfers so far this summer (SHorey etc).

i will say it here even though its a transfer thread, . but comparing when we had a load of evertonians here during the lescott transfer.. to the villa fans weve had here mysteryman and someone who pinched my name from villatalk its been an eye opener, rarely been a cross word between fans and thats always good to see.. so thanks from me for making it a pleasant experience and for my part your welcome here anytime, your a credit to your club.

Ireland most certainly hasnt become a bad player overnight but he has been living on the season before last for 2 long. The season before his epic season you would have found most city fans would have drove him to villa park as he flattered to decieve, then he had his break out season and he has become the best thing since sliced bread as we all love to see our own academy products succeed, whether he will ever attain that sort of form again is up for discussion!

O'Neil didn't walk over the Milner deal !

Thank you and you can fxxx right off about them pair . Seriously if Young went to you it would be for more than Milner probably the most under rated player Young been consistently good for 3 seasons a real match winner .

Albrighton too early but his crossing is very similar to Coppel in his hey day .

Not sure I agree with you about Young. He seems to have lost some confidence - possibly after some poor England displays. One of the best crossers of the ball in the Premiership though.

Well said, from a Mod point of view it can sometimes be a nightmare when fans of other clubs come on here usually ending up in a slanging match, well done Villa fans and I would also like to thank the City fans who have contributed to this thread. It is nice to see a debate from both sides without the abuse.

Good luck to Villa this season, I hope you finish one place below us wherever that may be ;)
