Meeting today between Ireland's reps and ManCity did not go well, neither side willing to budge. Can't confirm if rumours of Ireland being relegated to train with ManCity youths are true or not.

In my opinion, and that of my source, this has just swung back towards "no deal". I expect a Villa source to come out and say that Milner will be selected on Thursday in an attempt to force City's hand. I have a feeling that if nothing is done by this time tomorrow, Milner remains a Villa player until January.

Agreed the body language of Milner on Sat and the way he left the field suggested that he was saying goodbye. I don't get why people flap so much, Mancini said patience is key. Until city come out and say this deal is off then relax.

He may be a model pro but Milner will be pissed if he isn't granted his transfer. Villa's chairman has shown he has very little ambition for the club, hence O'Neill walking, while City have endless ambition. It's a case of one club going forward and one going backward and James wants to be with the former rather than the latter.

i really doubt we will buy a player who is cup tied in europe. he will know that, so if he is played on thursday i can see him not playing very well. maybe they should take 2m less for milner so we can pay stevie

In 2006 he was due to sign for Villa for 4 million the deal was pulled by Newcastle at the last minute he was actually at Bodymoor Heath our training ground ready to sign he cried his eyes out . Went back to Newcastle and was player of the season .

He will not sulk 100 percent fact yes he wants to move to you but he can't do nothing about it unless Ireland and Cook sort out the 2 million issue .

At the moment it's looking unlikely but it's nothing to do with Villa or Milner it's in your court .

-- Mon Aug 16, 2010 7:48 pm --

I think him not being eligible won't affect you wanting him it's to get you into Champions League not the Europa .

Why the hell would we take 2 million less we aint desperate to sell him .

If this is true Ireland has majorly fucked up 6 months of his career at least.

i hope his career never recovers

Harsh!

Why should he go somewhere he doesnt want to.....he has stated he doesnt want to leave city (in an interview on the offical site during the US tour)...so if he has changed his mind and does want to its only because he has been told he does not figure in RM's plans.....

RM is being very short sighted in my opinion.....Milner is an ok player but he is very different from ireland...he offes different things but the point is that if we get rid of Ireland we onlyt really have one player that offers the same creativity that ireland does and that is Silva.....can anyone say for 100% sure he will be able to handle a central creative role i n the next 6 months....I think it will take this lad time to get upto speed to be honest....

Y would Milner play for villa in europe when that would make him cup tied?????
Milner is on his way,sat afternoon told you that!

Oh and Ireland trained with the reserves not the youths!

Has anybody actually thought Stevie may just not want to go anywhere, and may just want to hold tight to see what happens with Mancini ? The way i see it is, if Mancini doesn't get us into that top 4 or win anything he may well find himself emptying his desk. That would then give the likes of Ireland and others the chance to play into the new managers plans, so by making these high demands of the club he puts himself into a short term position of strength, especially with four years of his contract left.

That may be the case but it will have also shown him that he is really wanted at Villa.

I cannot help but agree with the Villa fans on here. If we are really fucking around because of 2m for Ireland or whatever then this is a fucking joke and only shows that we do not want Milner that badly.
