Barcelona outcast Yaya Toure's agent said the midfielder is close to moving to England - and Manchester City are favourites to land him.

Agent Dimitri Seluk said: "Yaya Toure will be a star in the Premier League and the deal is now close with Barcelona. Manchester City has the quality to be the the best club in the world."

Barcelona are eyeing up potential replacements for Toure with Tottenham's Wilson Palacios, Bordeaux's Alou Diarra, Toulouse's Etienne Capoue and Juventus' ex-Liverpool star Momo Sissoko on their hit-list for holding midfielders.

Bit controversial this,as the Headlines say one thing,but at the begining its saying that City are favourites to land him,but his agent is only saying that City has the quality to be the best club in the world.
The comments may only be another one of this twats ways of getting us to pay more,by getting into Citys good books again,after his previous shit comments.
I`m NOT convinced yet !!!

Two completely different players indeed.

Ireland's younger, more mobile, has much more technical ability and should he reach his potential...
Will be at least twice the player Milner will ever be.

The only thing Milner's got on Ireland is that he's English and "always gives 100%".

Which is quite a bit to ask for at £28 million.

Milner is hardly ancient, Ireland has had heart problems and his fitness hasnt looked up to scratch this season, so I'm not sure what you mean by more mobile.
Despite al SI's weight training in Glossop he hasnt got anywhere near the physique, stature and "engine" of Milner

The "heart problems" were nothing more than unfounded rumours and speculation circulated by the tabloids.

"More mobile" - agility, short burst of pace etc etc

I just think a player of Ireland's ability and age should be given the benefit of the doubt, he has genuine raw potential, we just need to learn how to get the best out of him.

In a world where Michael Carrick and Owen Hargreaves were 'worth' 17 and 18 million respectively.....this will prove to be a good bit of business.

it would be our concern if they improved their team though, its a balancing act, you have to consider how much over the odds we should be willing to pay, im pretty sure if a club has a good scouting policy there must be better players available than james milner for less than that value

Firstly youre assuming they must have a better scouting policy than us? er, why? Second, IF there were such players out there (proven internationals playing in a major league), do you think we'd get quoted the same price as Villa if we went in for them?

i didnt suggest they had a better scouting system than us only that they may have a good one, secondly milner is not yet a proven international, thirdly as i said before if we found a player say in france worth £20 mill but because it is us we have to pay £28 mill that wouldnt bother me as giving a french club loads of money doesnt affect us in the epl

the thing is your not paying , city are if you have the money spend it , the thing is if chelsea cant match that figure and give him champions league football we know the others wont or cant afford him , so we pay above the odds so what
