Stringing us along.... he played his bollocks off in all the 5 years he was here. He didn't force a move, he didn't complain about not playing every week, he got his head down, did his job & saw out his contract. Also he never refused to train or play (which allegedly Sterling did when he moved to us, during pre season?)
He moved on because he knew he wouldn't be a regular starter & wanted to play more, especially in Center Midfield. Rodgers told him that's what he would do at Liverpool, so he moved. Having won all the domestic trophies (but not playing in the FA Cup Final or the QPR game) he didn't want to see his career out as a bit part player. Up until Rodgers left he was playing in midfield, Klopp came in, change things a bit & he found himself the bit part again. Spent a season at Left back (& didn't look out of place) & now he's worked his way back in to central midfield for them.
Anyone City fan who gives him grief is a mard arse in my eyes... he celebrated against us, so he should. 3 days earlier we beat them on penalties in a cup final, if i was a Liverpool fan i'd want him to be excited about scoring against us in that situation. Said Liverpool we're the better team.....look at the article, said we had better players but Liverpool we're more together, given he said that during Pellegrini's last season with us, he's probably right.
James Milner was a solid, dependable, hard working professional for us. Has probably over achieved in his career through sheer hard work (I in no way wanted the scousers to get to or win the champions league final but a part of me thought fair play to Milner for getting to experience playing one) & he despises United, he's alright for me.
