Milner update.

Milner and Arteta are completely different types of player.

Milner's the workhorse type every team needs. Arteta's the creative playmaker. Yes we lacked both types of player last season but we've addressed the creative lack with Silva so why would we go for another overpriced one. Simple question who is better value Silva at 25 mill or Arteta at 20 Mill +?? considering some Spanish team were going to offer 8 Mill for Arteta?

Look I have no problem with Milner, just the fact he brings us nothing that we don't already have.
Workhorses are on thing that we are not short of Yaya, De jong etc, yet you seem to think that we suddenly have ample cover in creative player?

mmmmmmmm[/quote]
think you`re doing yaya an injustice considering him a work horse mate?!?! hes a better footballer than you obviously give him credit for.

De Jong and Yaya are defensive mids, (although Yaya is more versatile and can play box to box), Milner is more attacking

can't see the problem some people are having here with Milner we need home growm players so why not buy 1 of the best english plays around yes its over the odds but you have english player tax and city tax on top of it

Disagree. Did we have a box to box midfielder at the club last season?

You can tell when deals are almost complete when they say other clubs are going to hijack it...............you see a pattern?

Kolarov with Juve
Balotelli with Chelsea/Barca
Milner with Spuds

Pollerz is correct with his update..............expect it done this week with debut against Valencia!!

i am sick of hearing milner is just a workhorse check out his goals and assists for last season if my memory serves me right i think he scored 11 goals in total and had 12 assists not bad for a work horse
compare that with lets say our own nige de jong 0 goals 0 assists granted a different player but still a central midfield player

lets see how he stacks up against players who will play in a similar role to him
gareth barry 4 goals 7 assists
david silva 11 goals 9 assists
yaya toure 1 goal 7 assists
steven gerrard 13 goals 12 assists
andres iniesta 1 goal 7 assists
milner 11 goals 12 assists

not bad stats for milner really when you consider he is just a work horse his stats are up there with the best and that includes silva and gerrard even outshining iniesta so please stop with the "milner is a workhorse and we already have these types at the club" he is a lot more than that

he probably works as hard if not harder than most but he also has a bit of quality were required in the final 3rd he is on his way to becoming a complete footballer which is what a lot on here seem to be missing not just a hard working midfield player

I never said we had enough cover in the creative department but we do lack "cover" in the box to box. I wouldn't class de Jong as a workhorse , he's a pure defensive mid. Ya Ya is box to box but Milner would make great cover for him. I'd love another creative mid but Arteta isn't the answer.

Plus he can play on the wings or as a fullback if required.

Never said he didn't have quality, if he hadn't then no one would be interested in him. I simply said he'll also chase lost causes and be prepared to display that ability in adverse situations, lots of players wont. Robinho as an example.

I think this can be safely categorized as new info. Thanks Pollerz we'll see how accurate you are this coming week.
