Really do think that when we finally reveal our hand Gollum will be the one losing a player not MON.

Depends on what you consider value for money. Arteta is a great player but has two years left on his deal.

Everton will want £20m plus, or players.

Milner is 24, progressing at a great rate, superb injury record...and English.

Can't see us leaving the lad hanging out to dry now.

Wasn't aware that 'value for money' had suddenly become part of our transfer strategy, when did that happen?
And if you are indicating that the fact he is english somehow adds to his value then let me remind you that we are probably the best placed club in the top flight where englishness is not really an issue now, nor because of our accademy, is it likely to become so in the future.
Now if its value for money you are after then you really must have a good arguement against Ozil then.

IMO Arteta-us, Milner-Spuds and we would be getting the more complete player

Oh and yes better 'value for money'

PMSL. You clearly don't actually understand the definition of 'value for money'...

I'll stick with Milner mate. It's not like I have questioned Arteta's quality, or his name on here last month that he was a back-up.

It would also been wrong to assume our Englishness will remain so strong.

bollocks!!!! while arteta is a good player why spend £25-£30m on him after he spent half of last season out injured??!?!? hes 28 or 29 now where as milner is 24 and if used properly could grow into the next lampard!! milner is maturing into a great all round player and with better players around him like we now have he will continue to improve into a real star.

Milner and Arteta are completely different types of player.

Milner's the workhorse type every team needs. Arteta's the creative playmaker. Yes we lacked both types of player last season but we've addressed the creative lack with Silva so why would we go for another overpriced one. Simple question who is better value Silva at 25 mill or Arteta at 20 Mill +?? considering some Spanish team were going to offer 8 Mill for Arteta?

arteta is a good player but for £20mill no value there, he has had a serious knee injury and is getting on for 30, is not an international, has a decent assists record and gets the odd goal so a steady player, not sure which of the top four would take him maybe arsenal/spuds rags no chelsea no

milner may be over priced slightly but that is what villa want for a player we feel the kneed to have, £25mill will prove to be a snip, he has had no major injuries, is the right side of 25, has improved year on year, every manager in the top flight would take him in a flash never mind the top 4, he is a full international, his gets goals and his assists record is not bad either add to that what he could become as he is noway the finished article and in a few years time we could have the new gerrard/lampard on our hands

milner=yes
arteta=no

Look I have no problem with Milner, just the fact he brings us nothing that we don't already have.
Workhorses are on thing that we are not short of Yaya, De jong etc, yet you seem to think that we suddenly have ample cover in creative player?

mmmmmmmm
