Milner update.

Nice one Pollerz - thanks for the info.

Lets hope we get this one wrapped up early in the week, followed closely by Super Mario - then we're all set for what should be a fantastic season ahead!

Agreed.

A. He's not that good
B. Giving Martin oneill 25m is daft
C. I don't like us getting shafted, no matter how sodding rich we are

Really hope this happens, sorry for the rag comparison, but he'll be our Paul Scholes, for many years to come.

You have got to be joking. Paul Scholes is one of the most naturally talented footballers this country has ever produced and has been one of the best midfielder players in the world for donkeys years.

Milner is a bit of a clodhopper and has had one decent season. For all we know he'll be shite again next season.

Comparisons like yours are daft.

If your making an orchestra you don't go out and recruit a load of 1st Violinists. You need someone for every instrument. Same with a football team.. NOTE the word "team". You need someone who'll still be chasing every ball no matter how hopeless in the 96th minute at Stoke on a dark wet and cold Wed night because they are the players who win you titles etc. Milner won't play every game but he'll be so damn useful against the physical teams. He'll give 100% both home and away which is something we need. For all we know he'll blossom with talented class players round him.

Really do think that when we finally reveal our hand Gollum will be the one losing a player not MON.

Depends on what you consider value for money. Arteta is a great player but has two years left on his deal.

Everton will want £20m plus, or players.

Milner is 24, progressing at a great rate, superb injury record...and English.

Can't see us leaving the lad hanging out to dry now.

What is O'Neill going to do with the money. If there's a better midfielder with the same qualities available for say £10m, why don't we buy them? Is it because they don't exist? Milner is worth about £18m, so including premiums for him being English, villa not wanting to sell and us being loaded, £25m is about as good as it will get

Parker will cost at least £15m, especially as west ham will know villa have the money. Ozil will want a top side if he moves this summer and is more of a silva than a milner, anyway.

As for a player exchange, I'd rather give them £25m in cash than say £18m and Ireland, as that's much more likely to bite us

I agree.

MON has just come out and said how he's expected to replace Milner with a cheaper player and how difficult that will be.

He's basically said that Villa cannot challenge for the title when City can grab their best players.

I think he'll be a great signing and a fan's favourite.

Pollerz has perhaps done alright by you.
