To be honest, if he does want to leave, I wouldn't begrudge him. He's the old school kind of player who isn't all about winning medals, he wants to play 90 minutes every week.

He's captain material as well. The club that would be perfect for him would be Spurs. They lack guile in the middle of the park and skippers who are actually fit for more than 5 games a season. His time with us has certainly refined his technical ability and if he went I'd be gutted, but would totally understand his desire to play week in, week out for his club and a permanent fixture in the national team.
